Dr. Phil Interviews Ted Williams Homeless Ex-Disc Jockey ~ Part 3

Dr. Phil Will Be Coaching This Man to Stay on the Straight and Narrow

Diane Zoller-Ciatto
Yesterday Dr. Phil McGraw interviewed Ted Williams and his family, today the story has changed and not for the better. I truly believe although the naysayers think otherwise, that Dr. Phil really wants to help him get clean and sober and stay that way.

After an altercation at the hotel where they were staying, the police were called, but nobody was arrested. Dr. Phil confronted his family members and Ted was not present. He asked his family to come to his hotel room and that is where the problem started. He stated that he did not throw a punch and Janey refutes this. She says that he punched her full on in the face and then she hit him with a plastic ice bucket. She said that he hit her like he would hit another man, not his daughter. According to the family he was drinking Grey Goose. His children got the vodka and brought it to his room and when it was empty, put the empties in their room so that nobody would know that Ted was drinking.

His family states that he is pulling the wool over the nation's eyes. He did not tell the truth to Dr. Phil and Dr. Phil confronted him with corroborating evidence of his lie and he sort of changed his story, but not completely. He has been interviewed by several news programs and states that he is clean and sober. Would a sober man punch a woman in the face? His family knew that he was not sober when they saw him eight months ago but did not say anything because they were joyful and hopeful that this time he would turn his life around.

Dr. Phil even attempted to have a dentist fix his teeth and he showed up late and left without getting anything done and left the dentist wondering why. The reason the fight broke out at the hotel was because nobody would listen to his story about the dentist office. But this only gives Dr. Phil more ammunition and more belief that he has not been telling the truth about his substance abuse.

Dr. Phil confronted him about the dentist and missing appointments with him. Ted wanted to go back to Columbus for a few days to straighten some things out and promised Dr. Phil that he would not get arrested and not get drunk. Dr. Phil offered him help and reminded him that he is not rich yet, and if he blows his chance, the offers will dry up too. He also offered to fly his girlfriend to him so he does not have to go to Columbus. Dr. Phil told him that he has made arrangements to send him to Padre Island on the southern tip of Texas in the Gulf of Mexico where there is a rehab facility that will tend to his needs. There he will get the treatment he needs; they will tend to his health; mental, spiritual and physical. There is a lot of hard work to do there and it is not a spa vacation. He also reminded him he told him the first day he saw him that the people who cheer him on will be the first to pick at him if he fails.

Dr. Phil then introduced him to Rich Whitman, the director of Origins, who will go with him to Columbus so he can see his kids again and from there will be leaving to go to rehab. He will be going to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting with Rich while in Columbus. He says he knows a great meeting there and seemed willing to do this once the pressure was off. He said he would not drink while there and no last fling. Dr. Phil also stated that rehab is private, with no media, just focusing on getting well.

According to a report that I heard on the news at noon, Ted is now in the rehab facility. All we can say is that we wish him luck.

He needs the rehab and to be out of the limelight. I'm still very leery of this this guy's intentions. The publicity he's been getting is not good for someone like him. He needs to be in a rehab a long time before he comes out in such a public type of job.

Is this a TV program about somebody else's real misery? What a show.

yes I wish him well and Dr. Phil would not have had him on his show if he didn't want to help him the naysayers do not know what they are talking about Just because they do not like the methods of therapy does not mean dr. phil is not helping, he has 35 years experience of helping all kinds of people and he gets tough with them when he has to.

It seems that when there is one lie, another is hiding behind it. Hopefully, Dr. Phil and the rehab will help him. Good report.
