Dr. Phil knows all too well that although Ted was there voluntarily, he needed much longer than this short time there. Once he left the guidance of Dr. Phil, he was totally under the medical supervision of the professional staff at Origins and Dr. Phil no longer had any part in his recovery.
Dr. Phil from his long time experiences with other addicts did want him to stay no less than 30 days and preferably 90 days to get the complete benefit of what Origins had to offer; medical, spiritual, Then he expected him to go to a sober living house to complete his recovery. Dr. Phil does not want to see Ted become a "15 minute phenom" but a useful member of society. He has a wonderful gift of his voice but we are afraid that his addiction will take that away in an instant.
Dr. Phil still offers him help, but he must return to treatment. He is on a slippery slope and with past experiences of guests on Dr. Phil's show; it takes a long time and a lot of determination to recover from addiction. Drug and alcohol addiction are complex diseases with medical, environmental, psychological and spiritual components.
We can only hope that Ted comes to his senses and returns to the recovery center before he falls back into his old ways. No reason was given as to why he left, but we can only hope and pray that the demons do not regain their foothold on him. Hopefully this story can still have a happy ending.

sounds like it is over Ted is not ready to give up the old life, I admire Dr. Phil for not giving up on him but Dr. Phil knows the odds very well and they are not in Ted's favour
