Dr. Praeger's California Veggie Burger - Product Review

JRS
In trying to cut back on my intake of red meat, I've been turning more and more to soy-based products. I've tried several brands of veggie burger, most recently Dr. Praeger's All Natural California Veggie Burger.

Dr. Praeger's All Natural California Veggie Burgers are made with Oat Bran and have no trans fat or cholesterol.

Ingredients include:

Carrots, Onions, String Beans, Soybeans, Zucchini, Oat Bran, Peas, Spinach, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Broccoli, Textured Soy Flour, Corn, Chickpea Flour, Red Pepper, Arrowroot, Corn Meal, Corn Starch, Garlic, Salt, Parsley, and Black Pepper.

While I really love that this 'burger' is made with so many good and healthy vegetables, I get annoyed that this and other non-meat products have to use the word 'burger'. What's wrong with just calling it a veggie patty? I'd still get the idea that I could eat it on a bun!

Anyhow, I enjoyed this robust 'burger' and found it very flavorful, even though I didn't eat it on a bun. There were big chunks of the listed vegetables. The patties were individually wrapped with 4 to a box. Plus they are full of fiber and low in fat and sodium! Oh, and they are also Kosher.

Dr. Praeger has several other veggie products including Fish Sticks, Spinach Pancakes, Broccoli Bites and Sweet Potato Pancakes. Dr. Praeger is a Cardiac Surgeon, who worked with a patient of his that was in the food business to create foods low in cholesterol, free of preservatives and artificial ingredients and low in saturated fats. What transpired was "Dr. Praeger's Sensible Foods." They are made with fresh ingredients and prepared under strict kosher supervision. Best of all they are convenient. With them being all vegetable products it takes less than 10 minutes to heat these in the oven or toaster oven until they are lightly browned. I chose to cook mine in a skillet sprayed with just a little cooking spray to keep it as low fat as possible. I also, threw in a can of baked beans to have as a side dish. This made a very quick, light meal, high in protein and fiber, but low in fat meal!
