Ironically, I purchased shoes that were 2 times larger than my normal size and used the "Dr. Scholl's double air-pillo foot pads and also a pair of the massaging gel insole foot pads placed inside my shoes. I can honestly say, "My feet are gelling a lot better!" I can stand a lot longer than I could before. These "shock absorbent" cushions make me feel like I am walking on carpet padding, or a really soft sponge. (Please be sure that they are NOT too tight, this will cause more pain, because it reduces your blood circulation even worse, which is the reason for diabetic neuropathy to begin with).
I am NOT a doctor, however I would highly recommend trying out these foot pads, simply because they make your feet feel a lot better, especially if you have to stand for a while in the same spot. This seems to be when my diabetic neuropathy seems to hurt the worst, although this severe diabetic pain seems to get worse as I grow older. I just try to do "the best I can and tolerate the pain on a daily basis", at the present time my hands are gradually beginning to feel this burning and tingling pain also.
These Dr. Scholl's Double Air-Pillo foot pads come packaged in a pair or (2) two pads for use for both men and womens shoes. They sell for approximately $2.99 a pkg. at Walgreen's and Wal-Mart. These pads can be trimmed to fit the inside of your shoe, by placing the cardboard package insert on top of the pad and then trim to your size of shoe. I personally would NOT cut too small the first time around, you can always go back and trim them again. (The massage gels are about $5.00 a pair).
Or, you may want to try my idea? The last time I was at the doctors office, he told me that it looked like my shoes were too tight and recommended that I try wearing shoes that has more room inside. So I bought some shoes that were 2 times larger than my normal size and placed (2) two sets of the Dr. Scholl's double air-pillo insoles and also the foot massaging gels! "My wife said I was crazy!" It feels kind of weird, but a lot better! "I am definitely gelling a lot better!" As the comical T.V. commercial states.
Although, this terrible burning and tingling pain in my hands and feet called neuropathy will most likely NEVER go away for the rest of my life. I am always looking for solutions to just simply help to relieve a lot of the pain. After a while, you just get tired of trying, the medicines don't seem to help me any and also make sick at my stomach. You may also want to try this "Diabetic Aid" hand and foot lotion creme that I have found that seems to work for this diabetic pain. This white lotion bottle can be purchased at Wal-Mart for approx $8.00.
God Bless anyone that suffers from this incurable diabetic illness on a daily basis like me personally. Hopefully, one of these days medical research scientist will come up with a cure for diabetes and cancer and or any life threatening disease which affects human beings all across the world. Unfortunately, doctors describe diabetes as being "a slow and painful yearlong death", they are right.
