The first is Dr. Scholl's for her Pumice Scrub. It contains natural pumice and peppermint and its goal is to exfoliate and moisturize rough, dry skin. It is used for dry, calloused, and rough skin like the kind I have on my heels and the balls of my feet. It is marketed as an invigorating and moisturizing formula designed to reveal your softest skin. You use it by wetting your feet first, and then massaging the scrub onto your feet, paying attention to specific trouble areas. For me, those are the heels and balls of my feet as I am sure is the case with most women.
I decided to try Dr. Scholl's for her Pumice Scrub primarily because until the Oil of Olay brand came out, I had tried about 7 other products that just didn't do the job. I went with the Dr. Scholl's name simply because it is a name that you can immediately trust. I really loved this product. The key to success with this one, particularly if you have super rough areas like myself is to use this daily, twice if you feel necessary. It really does work. After about a week, my calluses were noticeably decreased. You need to use an actual pumice stone after this treatment if you are looking for serious callous removal, but good things come to those who wait. Another great thing about Dr. Scholl's for her Pumice Scrub is that you can feel the effects immediately. The first time I used it my feet felt great right away. Noticeably smoother all over, and my feet stayed that way all day.
Another product that I have only just recently tried is the Oil of Olay Foot Treatment Thermal Pedicure. Again, I went with this product because Oil of Olay is a brand I trust, almost all of my skin care is entirely within the Oil of Olay line. Other of their products have worked for me in the past and so I wanted to see how well this one would fare for me. This product is a self-heating, exfoliating scrub to smooth and sooth feet. It contains Bora Bora sand, pumice and shea butter. This works to saturate your feet in 3 ways: it heats up on contact with water (If you have ever used Olay's Regenerist Polishing Scrub it is very much the same effect), its Bora Bora sand and pumice work to smooth away the calluses, and the shea butter acts as a moisturizer. Directions to use are exactly the same as the Dr. Scholl's treatment. And if you want extra heat on your feet, and trust me you do -- it feels terrific, keep adding water to the treatment as you do it. Here was another product that I was extremely happy with. The effects started immediately, my feet felt great afterwards and were noticeably smoother, pretty even. And the entire process itself felt like I was getting it done at the spa. So soothing and very nice. I had no complaints about this product either.
It comes down to price for me then when I am having difficulty choosing a product. In this case Dr. Scholls is the winner for sure. Dr. Scholls for her Pumice Scrub came in at about $7, whereas the Oil of Olay Foot Treatment Thermal Pedicure ran at about $13. I have to say, with how great I felt with it, it was worth the extra money. I keep both products on hand and use the Dr. Scholls for her Pumice Scrub daily, and the Oil of Olay Foot Treatment Thermal Pedicure is used weekly as my special treat. If you are looking for a foot scrub, either of these products works amazingly, and you will not only look great, but feel great as well.
