Lee, a dual sports star just graduated from McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas, turned in stellar performances in both football and baseball during his senior year of high school.
Lee plays the quarterback position, a position that the Tigers could use some additional depth in. On the football field, Lee passed for a total of 2,565 yards, and 31 touchdowns during his senior year. For the 2009 season he had 39 touchdowns to his credit, throwing for 2935 total yards. Lee was named Class 4A Honorable Mention All-State in 2009 and a first team all-district 9-4A player his junior year.
Lee is just as good, if not better on the baseball diamond. He is a pitcher that turned in a great performance his senior year of high school throwing for 90 strikeouts, for 11 wins and a 2.15 ERA. Lee can already throw a fast ball at 93mph. Will he be the answer to the pitching depth of the 2010 baseball team? It's very possible. This freshman will be seasoned and ready to play ball.
Head football coach, Les Miles made the announcement on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 that Lee had enrolled in summer school at Louisiana State University and had intentions of playing both football and baseball for the Tigers.
In addition to starting classes this past week Lee also started the summer conditioning program for the football team on Wednesday, as well.
Coach Les Miles had this to say about Lee coming to LSU, "I met with Zach and his parents today and I think that they are looking at LSU as a great opportunity both academically and athletically. Zach is an outstanding student and he's excited about the college experience."
Lee is a member of Rivals top 250 and ESPNU's top 150 and earned a four star rating from both rivals.com and SuperPrep All-American and a three star rating from scout.com. Lee was also a member of the PrepStar Top 150 Dream Team.
Lee also had offers from Texas Tech, Arizona, Arizona State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Nebraska to name a few.
Zach Lee is 6'4" and weighs 210 lbs. He will certainly be an asset to both the football and baseball programs at LSU.
