Gameplay
The objective of the game is to keep the box on the screen at all times. This requires players to dodge obstacles that may impede the box protagonist. The screen will scroll continuously from left to right, and your box must keep up.
Such obstacles are colored orange to allow players to distinguish which objects will be an impediment to their progress.
Along the way, there will be blue powerups that can be collected to give players a boost for their box.
The box can teleport when the bar is completely full.
Speed mode can be activated by pressing and holding down the spacebar. During speed mode, players can gain extra points.
Extra points can also be awarded for traveling in a straight line, moving backwards, or staying on one side of the screen (either left or right).
The game also includes an Upgrade section, where different aspects of the game can be upgraded. These upgrades include:
-Powerup Level: a higher powerup level increases how long powerups last
-Teleport Level: a higher teleport level increases how quickly the teleport bar fills up
-Speed Mode Level: a higher speed mode level increases the extra points earned in speed mode
-Shape Level: a higher shape level unlocks different shapes that can be used to replace the box shape
As you play through the game, you will be scored points, depending largely on how long you last. The more points you score before you lose the game, the more likely it is you will receive upgrade points that can be used to upgrade different aspects of the game.
Game Controls
Use the mouse to control the box.
Game Review
Drag Box is a fun little game that is a great exercise of a player's reflexes. The game concept is simple enough for players to learn quickly, but the game itself is not so easy to master, as some obstacles can be harder than others. The music is also a nice touch to the game. One fault in the game, however, is the inevitable repetitiveness of the game. However, Drag Box attempts to remove that repetitiveness by including a good set of upgrades that can be obtained by playing the game. This keeps players interested. One particular upgrade is the Shape Level upgrade, which allows players to use different shapes. This helps keep the game fresh and adds to the game's replay value.
Drag Box scores an 7/10 for its simple game concept and moderately difficult gameplay. It isn't the most unique game, but it has a few differences from others like it to make it stand out somewhat.
