Plotline was so-so - But who cares?
No, this isn't the newest twist-ending psychological thriller that would keep even the slyest viewers on their toes, but it was entertaining. The main character wrongs a Gypsy and receives a curse for her efforts - Not exactly cutting-edge material, but definitely a great base for a quality scary movie. The ending does attempt a twist, but if you don't see it coming, I'd check my pulse.
The acting wasn't bad.
I don't think anybody is going to show up at the Oscars for their performance in the movie, but there were no times when the acting was so horrible as to be embarrassing. Once again, it's a horror flick, and Grade-A acting has never really been top priority in movies of this nature. None of the characters were really developed well enough to warrant an emotional attachment from the audience, and that's probably just as well, too. After all, we want to see people getting brutally sliced and diced; we don't necessarily want to feel bad for them when they do!
Everything was WAY over the top - EXCELLENT!
Some of the scenes were so over the top as to be laughable, and I suspect that's exactly what director Sam Raimi had in mind. Out of control nosebleeds, disgusting vile fluid erupting from the mouth of a corpse, dead kittens, and a wonderful girl fight scene that is bound to leave you peeking through your fingers at the screen.
Rating (out of 5 stars): 4 stars!
The reason this film warrants such a high rating, in my opinion, is that all the "horror" movies as of late have been terrible disappointments. Drag me to Hell actually affects the viewer in some way, and has some very distasteful scenes which leave the true horror fan smiling and wanting more.

Movie sounds good, except for the dead kittens part. I've heard mixed reviews of it, thanks for a great review.
Nice review, Derek!
Nice review, still not too sure if I wanna see this in the theater or just wait around for the DVD hard to call with the kiddies...
Sometimes people just expect too much out of a movie. We'll probably rent this one when it goes to video.
