Story : The story hardly matters, but they did do a makeshift job of connecting the stories and fights together in Z Chronicles. If you're experiencing the Dragon Ball stories for the first time here, you will most likely be lost and uninterested as they really don't illustrate the story all that well.
Graphics : The graphics in this game are awesome. I'll admit, I really like cel-shaded games and this one is no exception. It really lends itself to the art style well. The characters and their moves all look exceptional and have loads of animation. An excellent game, graphically.
Sound : When games are usually licensed, they're forced to use different music and less importantly, sound effects. Fortunately for us, they actually used the sound from the anime. This really does make a huge difference in the atmosphere of the game and fans of the anime will really cling to the attention the sound was given in this game. I can't say the same for the English voice acting however, as it is mostly trash and just doesn't compare to the Japanese voice acting. The music is most ambient and forgettable, which is regrettable but isn't a huge deal either. Still, a great offering musically.
Game Play : Fighting games are among my favorite types of games, and there have been some amazing ones released in my day. It takes a lot to impress me, so does this game cut the mustard? Well, sort of. The game can be a mashing game, and more in the vein of Marvel VS. Capcom 2 which I see as a negative. Still though, there's something very satisfying about unleashing huge blasts of energy on your opponent. There's a great selection of characters here, but there aren't too man differences between them. My main gripe with the game is that it's not very deep. Very fun, yes, but just not very deep. There's nothing here to reward you with multiple plays. As such, I mostly recommend this game to die hard DBZ fans.
Re playability : If you do manage to love this game, the on line play is simply flawless. And also very fun, because the game isn't all that deep. It's a no brainer type game, which is just what the doctor ordered sometimes.
Overall : 5/10 if you don't like DBZ, 8/10 if you do.
