Dragon Dictate for the Mac by Nuance

Dragon Dictate for the Mac by Nuance has been noted for its superiority in voice to text recognition. There are a few problems with Dragon Dictate however. Dragon Dictate is not worth the money. Let's take a look at why in this article.

Dragon Dictate for the Mac by Nuance has a steep learning curve. While it does allow you to do some voice to text capabilities on your Mac today, it is not efficient enough to be worth the price. Retailing at $199.95 the product should be far superior than what it actually is. Most people buy it for ease and speed. It is meant to make writing something that's fast and efficient. The problem is that it has such a steep learning curve to train the product that it isn't worth it.

I spoke to some of the original designers of the Dragon Dictate in the 80s and they told me that originally the product was the best originally. Apparently the product was sold to another company and at that point it was changed completely. Everything was re-done from the beginning and altered to be the product today that is called Dragon Dictate. Nuance is not doing itself any favors. My personal opinion is that this is not a product that is worth the money that it costs. Even as I dictate this and using the product right now, it forces me to stop about every two or three words and correct it about 15 times before it actually gets to it right. It is an inferior product.

When I asked the original creators of DragonDictate what the problem were with the product, they told me that it has a steep learning curve. I asked for further information. They told me that that means that you have to train the software to be efficient. Dragon Dictate is a waste of a writer's time. If you're wasting my time then you are costing me money. This is definitely a problem.

My recommendations for the future Dragon Dictate Nuance is to make it more efficient with the initial training. I had previously used Windows voice to text that comes in the program free with Windows 7 or Windows Vista. I have used the built-in program that allows you to create documents from voice to text. I found it to be far superior in speed and accuracy. Now keep in mind I am a Fan-boy of Mac; so that's telling you something.

Conclusion

Dragon Dictate for the Mac by Nuance is not worth the money. Instead, use the built in software that comes with your Windows machine. It is free and far better. Windows wins this time.
