Dragon Lord

A Poem About Getting What You Want

Kylyssa Shay

Shining in the eyes of a Dragon Lord
When crouched above his golden hoard,
A dark, profound reality
All blackened far as eyes can see,
Yet here and there a few bright beams.
The sword, the gem, the armor gleams.
The light of gold cascades in streams.
---There must be here a thousand dreams---

Shining are the eyes of a Dragon Lord
When crouched upon his golden hoard.
Behind those eyes the old beast KNOWS.
His shoulders droop his eyelids close,
Memories turn in his great head.
Time follows all where life has led,
The victories won and soldiers dead,
---The glittering bits on which they bled---

Shining are the eyes of a Dragon Lord
As crouched upon his golden hoard
His claws caress each tiny gem-
Savor, enjoy each one of them
In a sweet obscene profanity
Of death and dreams and destiny.
A look of wise insanity.
---No thing is what it seems to be---

Shining are the eyes of a Dragon Lord
When crouched upon his golden hoard.
Like passion's shine, they shine like vice.
Like shining blood, they shine like ice.
In death the soldier drops his sword
To sprawl upon the Dragon's hoard
Where princes' wealth and soldiers blood
Lie lost amongst the golden flood
And lifeless hands grasp coins of gold.

Where darkly Dragon wings enfold
---All wishes granted in the cold---
