Dragonball Evolution

For the very first half a second when I heard Dragonball was going to hit the big screen with a live action cast I was excited but the next half of that second I remembered what Hollywood does to the things we love and I got nervous. Now that the trailer has come out its official, Hollywood has done it again. They took another proven product and raped it of its charm and everything that made it unique and replaced it with the dime a dozen over dramatic theatrics, gratuitous special effects and casting that in no way resembles the actual characters that we bonded with. A rose by any other name smells just as sweet but a name slapped on garbage always smells bad. The thing that made Dragonball great was the light hearted nature and easy going attitudes of the characters. The trailer has portrayed this movie as a huge dramatic stress ride made for people with no attention spans that need some sort of special effect shoved in their face to watch the screen.

If Hollywood is going to take something that already has a fan base you think they would be smart enough to understand that true fans will not fall for this crap and instead will just be enraged. We are not stupid. You can't take a dump and slap a Dragonball label on it and expect us to love it. I don't want to go off on the actors because they are just working people who took a job and you can't blame them for the tone of the movie and the writing, but the casting was way off. Master Roshi is a dirty old man and Goku is supposed to be a kid! WTF!? At very least represent the ages right! Ok I promised myself I wasn't going to do this but I'm all hyped up and I just can't help it I have to go all nerd on this one. Since they went with the title Dragonball and Not Dragonball Z it tells me they are using the Dragonball story (which they are because Piccolo is the villain in this movie) so they should have used the appropriate age of the main Dragonball character. If they really wanted to have the main character to be an adult they should have chosen to make the story based on Dragonball Z. If they were to do that they should have picked someone who at least looked like they have ever picked up a weight and why the heck isn't Goku Asian? Hey Hollywood we want our story and not what you think will sell the best. If you really have a problem casting an Asian for an Asian character then you shouldn't be making this movie! Well I have no intentions of seeing this garbage and I'm sure I'm not the only one either. I know when this movie flops all the incompetent Hollywood butt faces will blame it on the Dragonball franchise just not having a strong enough following in America when in fact it's these idiots that are too busy looking at demographics on charts to understand what the people really want.

I can't write this in the third person... I just can't. To do so would make me feel like a douche big enough to accommodate Madonna. My articles are a change of pace from what you can expect anywhere else. M...  View profile
