DragonBlogger Joins the AC Twitter Challenge

Justin Germino
I have been an active twitter user for over a year now and primarily use it to network with people for my poetry blog, I play a daily poetry game where I accept random words from twitter followers and use those words to create a unique poem every weekday. When I saw the AC Twitter Challenge I figured that my family could use a new netbook if I was lucky enough to win, or even a $100 gift certificate could help with my computer supply needs.

As an associated content writer there are huge benefits for joining twitter and those include the biggest which is automatic publishing of your articles to your twitter account. Twitter will allow you to find and build a network of "followers" who enjoy or talk about the same categories and topics and can help drive traffic to your articles as well as help you find good content to read as well.

As a blogger I follow many bloggers in the Technology, Poetry and Blogging fields including Chris Brogan, Minervity, and many other poetry bloggers. Many people follow celebrities on twitter just to keep up with the obsession, but Twitter isn't meant to be a news source or traffic stream, it is designed for you to connect with real people and interact like an instant message network to the world.

To enter the AC Twitter Challenge all you need to do is sign up for Associated Content and start publishing a few articles, or if you are already an Associated Content producer, then just follow @acnews on Twitter and retweet messages from @acnews once a week that contain the hashtag #acsweeps, to do a retweet you should leverage a twitter website like HootSuite, or a client application like TweetDeck which have ReTweet buttons you can click on for each tweet that comes in.

I promote my content by finding my highest page view articles, or ones that I want to promote to my readers, and I will simply write a small summary of the article and ask readers to check it out. Always use a URL Shrinking service like Tinyurl.com or is.gd to shrink your URL's so you can fit more content into your tweets.

Example of a tweet I would send out is:

My FollowFriday article on twitter has over 3500 pageviews, twitter newbies should read: http://is.gd/3ls0b

Twitter is a powerful social network and everyone who has a business to promote, a blog, a website or even just wants to meet people and do some networking should maintain a twitter profile. It is rapidly becoming a breaking news source for latest information, trends and topics and is able to bring information to the masses faster than the blogging platform due to its rapid response nature.

If you enjoyed my article or would like to join my random twitter poetry game, feel free to follow me on Twitter, my handle is @dragonblogger.
