Today I walked to a place by the creek
Where the water stopped clear and clean.
And it was there I saw young dragonflies
With iridescent faces and purple tails.
With two wings fore to fly
And two aft that seemed to guide,
They sped low and fast;
They zoomed around a tree,
Dipped at water plants,
Made many tiny water ripples,
Then somersaulted back to land.
