Stress that isn't managed can cause a wide number of illnesses. One way of learning how to successfully and effectively manage that stress, and even regain health you feel you've lost, is to stop in and talk to Amanda DeBurgos-Milstead, owner of Dragonfly Wellness Studio, 106 North Main Street, in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.
Amanda is a nationally certified therapeutic massage therapist. She is trained in Swedish, deep-tissue, therapeutic and prenatal massage, and reflexology (a relaxing complimentary therapy involving massage of the reflex points of the feet). These help restore balance to the body and help the body heal itself.
At Dragonfly Wellness Studio, Amanda also teaches Kripalu Yoga, which is a form of Yoga that deals with the whole person - mind, body and spirit. Several classes, as well as private and semi-private instruction, are available. On the third Sunday of every month, Amanda offers a free Yoga class for anyone who has NEVER tried Yoga, or who is new to the studio. The only requirement is to bring canned goods, which will be donated to the food cupboard at the First Baptist Church in Cape May Court House. Space is limited, so call early to schedule your free trial!
Also on staff are Certified Kripalu Yoga instructors Gillian Eyde, who has been practicing Yoga for more than 10 years, Janet Hahn, who has been practicing Yoga for over 30 years, and Michelle Stauffer, who has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and is dedicated to inspiring beginner students to opening their mind and body.
Gillian is also certified in K-8 Yoga education and CPR, and she combines her love of Yoga and children to bring a heartfelt approach to the kids' Yoga program at the studio. Janet is also a 3rd level Reiki, and a dance instructor.
If you've been considering Yoga, this would be an excellent place to begin. Kripalu Yoga is a wonderful way to improve one's strength, endurance, flexibility and balance, and it incorporates various postures, guided breathing, relaxation and meditation. In each of our bodies is a subtle, rhythmic energy pulsation. When this energy flow is disturbed or blocked, an imbalance can result or even disease. Practicing these elements of Kripalu (postures, breathing techniques, deep relaxation and meditation) can help free this energy and even dissolve blockages, so that healing can take place on many levels.
Another complimentary modality directly related to energy and the release and removal of energy blockages, is the science of acupuncture...enter Dr. Paul Edward Lewis, licensed acupuncturist.
Acupuncture is a form of ancient Chinese medicine, (practiced for over 3,000 years), that stimulates your body's energy flow and circulation. It has been used to treat many, many ailments, from the simple common cold to cancer, and from gynecology to gerontology. In addition to working on staff at Dragonfly Wellness Studio, Dr. Lewis also works in Galloway and Vineland, where he uses acupuncture to help cancer patients counter the effects of chemotherapy and radiation.
Dr. Lewis is trained in the art of Classical Chinese Medicine, and he attended the Natural College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Using dietary counseling, Chinese herbs and acupuncture to help patients rectify imbalances in the body, during his sessions he incorporates both acupuncture and energy work to assist the body in restoring correct energy flow and natural healing to the affected areas.
Acupuncture is a safe and painless process that stimulates your body's energetic system, and consists of 365 acupuncture points. Paths of energy in your body can be opened, and blockages, from emotional to physical, can be released.
Acupuncture has had remarkable success in treating any type of pain, including sciatica, neuropathy, fibromyalgia, migraines and carpal tunnel, to name a few. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine have also been of great help in treating and improving women's health issues (gynecological problems, infertility and symptoms of menopause).
And last, but not least on staff is "Bo" Having traveled throughout the country helping people find ways to experience more purpose in their lives, Bo brings his talents as Reiki Master and reflexologist to this group of talented professionals.
Dragonfly Wellness Studio is conveniently located on the first floor of 106 No. Main Street (Route 9) in the heart of Cape May Court House, directly across the street from Sun Bank.
