Charlie Cross (John Schneider) and Laura Griffith (Marilu Henner) meet by shear luck on Laura's business trip from the Big Apple to Georgia. Charlie is love-struck and is determined to make a relationship work. Laura, a dedicated, high strung, businesswoman who has no time in her hectic life for a relationship, let alone a marriage; and Charlie, the tall, blonde haired, blue eyed handsome country boy contractor, have a wonderful four day fling. Just as Laura gets ready to leave, Charlie Cross proposes his never-ending love, but Laura, too involved with her work and bad feelings left behind from her previous marriage, declines Charlie's proposal.
But this doesn't stop Charlie Cross. Charlie wants to show her that he isn't her ex-husband. He drives nine hundred miles to the big city in hopes of professing his love to Laura. Instead, he gives the teeming city of Manhattan a run for its money. Convinced on winning Laura's love, he buys a parcel of land in the worst part of Manhattan and decides to build a home for him and his dear love, Laura. In doing so, he interferes in dirty politicians' matters of building a housing project in a bad neighborhood, Charlie intrudes on a neighborhood with confidence and a smile, Charlie becomes constantly threatened by persistent street gangs, faces racism, gets in trouble with the law, spends time in jail, and fights his way through all of it because of his strong morals and well rounded beliefs. Charlie is determined not only to build this home in this hard-hearted community, but to prove that with every person and place in American there is decency, there are rights, and there is a celebration of freedom that everyone is entitled to. Determination, love, honor, and respect, truly make the world go round. Charlie spreads his morals to the entire city, making them rethink their actions and determine what is really important in life.
This is a wonderful family film that has so many valuable life lessons in it that everyone in your family can benefit and learn from. It will make you laugh, make you cry, and entertain the entire family the whole way through. Rent it or buy it now. You will be so happy that you did.

Post a CommentLOVED the movie. Too bad you can't find it anywhere, or even clips on youtube. It's a classic love story involving a talented Southern "old school" carpenter who falls in love with an inner city beauty. I wish I could see it again.
Is the movie Dream House available on dvd or vhs?
