Dream Interpretation: The Meaning of Robins in Dreams

Tammy Duffey
Dreams are a connection between our waking lives and the rich world of our subconscious minds. Our dreams can reveal our deepest hopes and wishes, our strengths and weaknesses, our struggles and victories, our desires and our needs. The symbolic language of our dreams is individual and unique to the dreamer. When it comes to interpreting your dreams there is no better expert than yourself. Sometimes my interpretations won't seem to apply to you or your current situation. If this happens, focus on your symbol; on its own and within the context of your dream. Look for clues about the symbol's meaning to you and its application to your personal circumstances.

The Meaning of Robins in Dreams

Every year, the Robin's arrival signals the end of winter and the return of springtime. It's a time of rebirth and renewal, a time of growth and new beginnings.

Dreams of the Robin are symbolic of the future and of rejuvenation. The Robin's appearance in your dream could signal something, in your waking life, that's about to happen. Perhaps you have been feeling the need for change and renewal in your life?

The Robin is also symbolic of joy, hope, happiness and a bright future. Study the Robin's behaviour and mannerisms within the context of your dream. Is the Robin singing, building a nest, flying? Are there certain qualities, about the Robin, that might point to characteristics that perhaps you need to strengthen and develop?

Consider the Robin's clear song. Do you need to be more direct, honest and forthcoming in your communications? Consider the simplicity, contentment and patience of the Robin's as it builds its nest or when hunting for food? Perhaps you need to take an objective look at your waking life and the frantic pace you keep. Do you need to find balance?

Depending on the context of your dream, the Robin can also be symbolic of a person or place in your waking life. Similarly, the Robin could also be the fabled Robin Hood who, as the tale goes, stole from the rich to give to the poor. Maybe you need to put more of your time and energy into causes and pursuits that you find fulfilling.

Dreams are a window onto a hidden, secret part of us. Learn to look through that window! Understanding what we see, in our dream symbols, allows us an opportunity to strengthen our self knowledge and to live richer, more fulfilling lives.
