Dream Interpretations: The Meaning of Chives in Dreams

Tammy Duffey
Dreams are a connection between our waking lives and the rich, mysterious world of our subconscious minds. Our dreams reveal our deepest hopes and wishes, our strengths and weaknesses, our struggles and victories, our desires and our needs. In short, our dreams show us everything about ourselves, sometimes even when we aren't aware of certain aspects of our personality.

The symbolic language of our dreams is individual and unique to the dreamer. The symbols you see in your dreams are trying to tell you a story and apply exclusively to your waking life. So, when it comes to interpreting your dreams there is no better expert than yourself.

Sometimes my interpretations won't seem to apply to you, the people around you or your current situation. If this happens, focus on your symbol; on its own and within the context of your dream. Look for clues about the symbol's meaning to you and its application to your personal circumstances.

The Meaning of Chives in Dreams

Look at Chives growing in the garden and you are witnessing the perfect balance of form and function. Think how Chives are both beautiful and useful. They are pretty to look at, with their green stems and lavender flower heads, while at the same time are worthwhile additions to our food.

Perhaps the appearance of Chives, in your dream, is showing you that form doesn't always have to follow function or vice versa. In your waking life, are there two or more people, situations or personal traits that might need balancing?

In dreams, Chives are also symbolic of harmony, balance and abundance. In nature, once rooted and established, Chives grow naturally and return year after year. The appearance of Chives might indicate that you are a loyal and trustworthy friend who balances well with others. Conversely, is this an aspect of your personality that needs strengthening?

Think about the way Chives enhance our food. An otherwise ordinary dish becomes a bit more exciting and tasty with the addition of Chives. In your waking life, are there people or situations that have been overlooked, underestimated or simplified? Perhaps you need to rethink your position. Is something, in your waking life, gaining more significance or becoming more attractive? Maybe something or someone is gaining more significance, but in an unattractive, negative way.

Dreams are a window onto a hidden, secret part of us. Learn to look through that window and you'll be amazed! Understanding what we see, in our dream symbols, allows us an opportunity to strengthen our self knowledge and to live richer, more fulfilling lives.
