Dream Interpreters: Interpret My Dream

Interpret the Dream that Scared Me Senseless as a Child

Joshua Huffman
As a teenager in 2000, I had a dream. Nine years later, I still have never been able to interpret my dream. The dream seemed to have personal and religious implications associated with it. For any dream interpreters, I ask you to interpret my dream.

I believe the dream occurred in the early hours of the morning. I transferred from my sleeping state of unconsciousness into my dream state.

I felt like I was walking on a path toward a pitch of darkness. I could not see anything but what seemed to be increasing haze. As I walked forward, the temperature seemed to rise. I started hearing vile and depressing music.

I attempted to escape, but could not. I kept going forward. Circumstances worsened. I was terrified. My mind yelled out the word "Jesus."

On that thought, I woke up instantly. I regained my composure, feeling like I was choking on my quilt and trying to recapture my breath. What had just happened? How did I have this dream? Why was I suffocating on my quilt?

I used to sleep in a pitch black room. I currently do, with lighting from the stereo and circuit breakers disrupting pitch darkness. For years following the vision, I often had to keep the television on in fear that the dream would reincarnate itself. I sleep on my left side.

During that time, I had other dreams that resulted in sleep paralysis. I had a couple different dreams somewhat similar to what I had just described. No other dream felt as real, was as in-depth, and do I have as fond of a memory as I do with that dream.

Alas dream interpreters, can you interpret my dream? Did I go to hell? Was it a near death experience? Out of body experience? Does this mean the age of accountability does not exist? Being that I was a Christian at that time, was that my sign that Christianity is a hoax? Was I possibly administered some type of drugs without knowing it? Did an insect cry "Bloody murder" in my pitch-black room 99 times?

Maybe I could have a free stay in the insane asylum? Interpret my dream!
