Dream Songs

Linda Riggs
If you are ever having trouble sleeping or getting proper rest, it might come in handy to have a disk full of songs that get you in the mood to dream. There are so many great songs that fall into this category that I had to really take my time to choose the best of the bunch.

Many songs make mention of dreams or dreaming but some are just too hard rock to add to this list. The songs in this list are songs that not only mention dreams or dreaming, they also have soothing melodies that are sure to help relax the listener. It was also very important to me to choose songs that would encourage sweet dreams.

You might want to choose all or just a few of these tunes to make a bedtime disk for yourself. Try giving each tune an open minded listen and then select your favorites from the list. Here are my choices for the best dream songs.

Dream On / Aerosmith
This song would be my suggestion for a first track on any dreaming disk. It is a hard rocking song that will allow you to get out any last minute frustrations while still getting your mind on dreaming.

I Like Dreaming / Kenny Nolan
This beautiful little song is a sure bet for putting you in a good mood and plastering a smile on your face. It is a great song for the beginning of a dream disk because it's got a very moderate tempo.

Dream A Little Dream Of Me / The Mamas & The Papas
Cass Elliot had a voice that could soothe the nerves of just about anyone. This song highlights the soft loveliness of her dreamy voice. It has a lilting melody that will work on your frayed edges.

You Make My Dreams Come True / Hall & Oates
You might find yourself doing a little toe tapping to this song. It does have a bit of an upbeat tempo and a snappy rhythm. It is still a perfect song to add to your dream library.

In Your Wildest Dreams / The Moody Blues
There is a story in this song that is romantic and sad. The song has a driving beat and fantastic vocals. Be sure to take the time to listen to the words when you play this tune.

Dream Weaver / Gary Wright
Gary Wright did this song up perfectly with swirling keyboards and an almost spooky feel. This a song that you will want to kick your feet up and tilt your head back for when you play it. You should close your eyes and let this song make your worries drift away.

All I Have To Do Is Dream / Buddy Holly
The only bad thing about adding this beautiful song to your list is that it has such a catchy melody to it. It may linger in your mind so much that you find yourself singing it over and over. Take the time to think about someone that you love that is out of reach when you listen to this tune. You will find you feel closer to them than you did before your listen.

Day Dream Believer / The Monkees
This song would fit in perfectly as the last song with a quick tempo on your dream song disk. It is such a happy song that it is sure to give you a good feeling when you hear it.

I Dreamed Last Night / Justin Hayward & John Lodge / Blue Jays
Here is my absolute favorite dream song. It is incredibly beautiful and romantic. This song has such amazing vocals and harmonies. The lyrics are completely dreamy and they will surely sweep you off into the most beautiful dreams you have ever had.

Dream Angel / Brian Wilson
Brian has always written such lovely lyrics for his songs. This tune is no exception to that rule. You can feel the love he put in to this song with every word he sings. This is one tune that you won't want to skip when making up your dream song lists.

Every one of these tunes are special and unique. What they do have in common is that they all have a very good vibe and uplifting lyrics. These songs should promote happy dreams that will help you feel content after a good night of sleeping. Take the time to put them in an order that will help you get in a relaxed frame of mind. Be ready to rest and be sure to enjoy every listen.

Good picks, but I'd add Roy Orbison's 'In Dreams'. I'm a big Moody Blues fan, but don't know the first dream song listed. Will have to check it out.

Great selections! Try this one if you get a chance - it's haunting. "Deep Enough to Dream" by the Christian artist Chris Rice.

Dream A Little Dream Of Me really showcases how rich Mama Cass' voice was. One of my favorites.
