Dream Symbols and Their Meanings

There are many things we dream about. Sometimes the symbols in our dreams mean something. Some common dream symbols and their meanings can be explored in one of my previous articles; here are some additional dream symbols and their possible meanings. Remember that dreams are subjective and these are the most common meanings for certain symbols.

Flying in your dream could mean one of two things. If you have some kind of black wings or cape, your dream may be telling you about disappointments. Otherwise, flying may mean you feel free in an area of your life that had been restricted.

If you are being chased in your dream, it could be a sign of insecurity. You may feel you're trapped in a situation you can't get out of. Conversely, if you are chasing someone else, it may mean you're feeling aggressive towards others. Or you could be facing a goal or obstacle in your life.

Driving is a major part of our lives, so it shouldn't be surprising if we dream about driving. How you are driving in your dream reflects how you feel about the direction your life is going in. For example, if you are driving and can't see a road or path, you may be feeling directionless. If you are driving a bus, perhaps you feel you're stuck in a menial job with no advancement opportunities.

If you dream about being buried alive, or being trapped in a similar fashion, it can be quite telling. It is possible your mind is trying to tell you you're about to make a big mistake. If your dream involves your rescue, it could mean you believe you can right your wrong.

The meaning of a dream that you have acne isn't very deep and mysterious. If you dream you have acne, you may have an insecurity or self-esteem issue. Whether acne occurs in real life or dreams, it usually makes one feel self-conscious.

Fighting in a dream can mean a few different things. If you are participating in the fight, you may feel threatened in your finances or status. If you witness the fight, you might not be admitting a problem you have.

If you dream about missing a test, it may be an indication you are worried you won't live up to an expectation of you. If you take a test in your dream it might mean you are a perfectionist or have a fear of failing.
