Dreamdays in the Land of Unlimited Opportunities

The Most Memorable Summer Vacation in the USA

Stoyan Garvanov

My best summer vacation undoubtedly was in the USA where I spent my 2009 summer with my aunt's family from July 2nd to the 25th of August. I am from Bulgaria and I remember that summer when I went for the first time to America. It was just a dream come true.

I remember when I first stepped off the plane, and said to myself that this is going to be an awesome summer. The first day my aunt showed me downtown Minneapolis where I just lost my breath, when I saw the Capella Tower, simply because in Bulgaria there are no such buildings like the skyscrapers which are an ordinary view in the US. The next day was even better, because it was Independence Day and we went to Saint Paul to watch the fireworks. Then I discovered that my relatives were preparing me for a visit to New York City the next week.

We traveled there for 15-17 hours and we stayed there for 5 days at a Soho apartment which was owed by uncle's friend. Immediately after we packed off, we rushed to see all the sights in the city, which are numerous. First, I saw The Empire State Building - and I thought that the Capella Tower in Minneapolis was tall. After that we went on Times Square where we ate McDonald's and were astonished by all the people rushing and the advertisements put on every building. The next 2 days we were driving around the city and taking pictures, but the last day was the best. We went with a ferry to see the Statue of Liberty which is maybe the best symbol of New York and even America. After that visit we sadly returned back to Minneapolis, where the rest of the summer passed pretty good.

I can proudly say that so far this is the best summer I've have ever had and, for now, I can only dream of having a summer like that again.
