You have dreams that you remember, and dreams you never remember dreaming.
The fact is, we all dream while we are asleep.
When we are in our deepest sleep, we don't remember what we dream about. This is because we are in a very deep sleep and only the dreams that are in our (REM) Rapid Eye Movement sleep are the dreams we are most likely to remember.
However, there may be one situation whereas we may remember a dream from a deep sleep stage and that is if we should become aroused or startled suddenly from that sleep.
I believe there are several reasons for dreams.
Some dreams are manifested because of things that are in our subconscious. Maybe due to anxiety, or unresolved issues in life. Others might be fears that we have and have not dealt with them.
Other dreams may be manifested due to hopes and unfulfilled desires in our life. Someone may have a recurring dream about a home they want and until they resolve that it is not theirs or get the home, they may continue to have it.
The Bible gives several accounts of different people having dreams. For instance, Joesph was laughed at by his brothers and labeled him a dreamer due to his dreams that he would share.
These types of dreams are dreams that are given by the Holy Spirit. The Bible talks about visions and dreams.
I know for myself, I have had several dreams I believe that were from God or the Holy Spirit.
I remember when I lived in Georgia, I had several dreams. One was before 9/11. I did not understand the depth or meaning to the dream until well after the 9/11 occurrence.
In the dream, I was standing outside a house on the corner of the block where we lived and in the distance, my husband and I both seen a Tornado coming. Then, I hollered at my husband to call 911 and instead, he went in and got a camcorder to record the event.
My interpretation of the dream was this: The Tornado represented something horrible and very destructive coming. 911 represented a date and the camcorder represented the Media.
I believe you can pray and ask for dreams from God or the Holy Ghost and I believe that they will at some point come. However, I don't believe any of this can be a forced issue. The whole thing about Prophetic words, dreams and visions, is a gifting by the Holy Ghost and it is not something we can just conjure up ourselves by forceful prayer.
Sometimes, I have felt that dreams were a way for God to communicate with us when we aren't listening to Him.
I think that we can get some warning dreams from the Holy Spirit about future events in our lives.
I don't claim to be a dream expert, however, I do believe that I have learned somewhat how to interpret the meaning of dreams.
I have only studied dreams mostly based on my own experience.
There are a few close friends that I have listened to and gave them my own insight as to what I believe their dream may have meant.
How do you know if it is a supernatural dream, or just a dream? I have found most of my supernatural dreams to be a little quirky. What I mean by that, is they are unusual and it is hard to connect them with your life as in the natural. Things will seem out of place or not fitting into the regular routine of things going on in your everyday life.
If you have a strange dream and don't quite know how to interpret the dream or can't quite see how it fits in your life, your best bet is to sit back and wait for your dream to manifest itself. Usually most dreams of this nature are made more then what they are. This I think is because God wants to get your attention and what better way then to give you a different quirky dream?
Anyhow, pleasant dreams to all and may God bless you while you slumber.

I can recall dreams in detail from as long ago as 24 years ago. I have not found any articles yet about dreams like the ones I have. I have dreams that cause deja vu. I have dreams that affect my emotional state for day. If I am running in my dream, I ache and am tired the entire next day...like I was actually running the entire night. I dream about people I've never met. Some I have met some time later on in real life. I have had dreams about my grandparents from when they were young. I have very vivid dreams every night. I dream about valcanos errupting, planes crashing, being in accidents, finding and/or seeing people die. I smell everythng, hear everything, feel everything. It is frustrating, and is often difficult for me to tell the dreams from reality. I have about as many boughts of feeling like I'm in a dream while I'm awake. I've been out of school for over 10 years, and I still have dreams of missing the bus during my junior and senior years. I also have dreams about being in
Dreams are a valuable tool. How we use them and perceive them is truly up to ourselves. Whether you blind yourself to the deepened meaning of the dream is up to you. However, I remain like you. I dream to learn, learn to live, and live to breathe.
I "Know" that the Lord sometimes gives us visions in our dreams...sometimes to prepare us for hard times...Excellent Article !!!!!!!!!!
Very interesting exploration into the dream world, Cyn ;-) Pleasant dreams for you as well.
I also have had dreams that had my mother, sister, and stepfather (all gone now). I have also had dreams about still working at the place I was employed at until last April (I worked there for nearly 20 years and got laid off) Frankly, I wish I could stop dreaming about them...the losses have all been fairly recent, and because my life is at a stand-still right now, I have not been able to get on with it.
Now, that is a deep desire for you to have your parents present in your life. Cyn
Mine almost always make absolutely no sense, and so they can't really mean anything. Except sometimes my parents are still alive in them.
