Dreams Are Crushed but Family is There to Pick Up the Pieces

Many people are thankful for all sorts of things but the number one thing I, myself, am thankful for is my supportive and loving family. Without them my husband, two kids and myself would be out on the street right now literally.

You see what happened was my husband got this great job. He got the day our daughter was born. We thought it to be a sign of good fortune to come. He was working for the best cancer hospital in the world as a computer tech and we knew that the job market for that would never go away. People are always going to have cancer and need computers fixed so his job was secure. So we moved closer to his work and got a nice apartment. We then a couple of months later decided to get a 2005 Ford explorer because our little Mustang wasn't big enough for our two toddlers. We had it all.

A couple of months ago his company sends out emails that they will be cutting back about 500 people because they were in need of budget cuts because of this decaying economy we have. We got scared. We lived every day as if it would be his last day at the job. Then they laid off their 500 and he wasn't one. So we celebrated and got all excited. My family was happy that he still had a job. Everything goes fine and they even give everyone a $500 bonus because they are now doing so good on the budget.

The very next week after the bonus without any notice they lay off my husband and another good, hard worker. They weren't doing as good as they had thought they were. They laid him off on a Tuesday and said he was more then welcome to stay there for the rest of the week or he could leave then and still get paid for that week. So he chose to leave and still get paid.

I contacted my family and told them what happened. Let our apartments know what had happened and they told us we could get out of our lease, which by the way we had just resigned the lease a month before for a full year, but we'd still have to pay our rent monthly until it was rented. So we made the hard decision of just letting it go as if we had abandoned in.

We moved in with my family. They were very supportive and there for us in our time of need. He wasn't going to make enough on unemployment for our car note and rent and bills so we had to leave. They have offered us help financially because they know how it is right now. Without my family I would not have a roof over my head or more then likely our car. We would've lost everything if it wasn't for them instead of just our apartment.
