Dreams - Are They In Another World?

Janice Meyer
Our dreams take us away from worldly care,
we walk in rainbow gardens through the night.
In royalty, we find our deep desires,
a prince or princess rescues captive hearts,
that build quaint castles nearing edge of sky,
a garden hemmed in by a fence of stars.

On summer nights, to sleep beneath the stars,
with space to search our dreams for one to care,
and climb the stairs that spiral to the sky,
a paradise 'till dawn envelopes night.
At morn,' return to feral earth where hearts
may break when dreams give sway to bleak desires.

At times in dreams we seek our dark desires,
subconscious needs more numerous than stars,
that stalk their way into submissive hearts.
A friendly smile we trust, but could he care?
When walking through dank dungeons of the night,
we rescue fallen angels from the sky.

For someone from the past, we scan the sky,
a love of old once lost renews desires.
Perhaps an angel soars from out the night,
familiar seraph glows as silver stars
that light the path to home, where those who care
have kept us in their dreams and in their hearts.

We walk along the street of broken hearts,
yet dreams so monumental touch the sky.
Another lonely soul you meet to care.
The two of you may share like wild desires,
you fly on fragile wings among the stars,
there hand-in-hand 'till morning claims the night.

Although in dreams we travel through the night,
by day, they linger on within our hearts.
We seek to know their meaning - study stars --
More signs of revelation from the sky,
recall our wants, our needs, our death desires.
Old love, once lost, now found, but do we care?

Lest we take care in transient world of night,
our secret, rash desires may snare our hearts,
fate's written on the sky beyond the stars.

I love this. Dreams seem so mysterious! Sometimes they seem so real, and they're really confusing when they include people we don't know that also seem real. It makes you wonder how the mind conjures up those things. Excellent!

Do we dream what we wish would happen, or about things that happen and we want to change? Good poetry my friend!
