Dress the Celebrities with Your Own Virtual Paper Doll at Stardoll.com

Paperdolls Meet the Internet

Pam Gaulin
I could not resist clicking on the stardoll link from Google's top searches.

When I clicked onto the page, I thought, "no way." stardoll is the happy accident that was created when the concept of paper dolls bumped into a room full of photogenic celebrities, and then fell into a deep, dark hole, lost most of their clothing, and re-emerged online, for you to dress them up.

Stardoll appeals to any girl who likes paper dolls, celebrities, fashion, and twittering away time online. Stardoll also appeals to grown women who may have fond memories of playing with paper dolls.

The time wasting factor of stardoll is also incredibly appealing. Bored? Go to stardoll and find the name of your favorite celebrity. With 400 celebrity paper dolls to choose from, you're sure to find one would like to dress up. After you click on a virtual paper doll of the celebrity appears, in their underwear, much like "real"paper dolls in their frilly undergarments.

Add shoes, pants, shirts, dresses, skirts, accessories and whatever else is available.

I had trouble deciding between two of my favorite celebrities, Johnny Depp, and Keanu Reeves, but I went with Johhny Deep because I love pirates.

With the Johnny Depp celebrity paper doll, or stardoll, there were two choices for the face. Some celebrity stardoll on the site have more than one version. Others don't.

I dressed my Johhny Depp celebrity paper doll in a seductive pirate costume - or half costume. I might have gone too far, or not far enough.

It only took a couple of minutes to drag and drop the clothing items onto my celebrity paper doll. Then I had the choice to save him, print him, email to a friend, or save him in an album.

Anyone can create a celebrity paper doll without logging in. Since I was just going to screen shot him, I did not have to create an account on stardoll. Although more than seven million people registered users at stardoll.

When you tire of dressing up the celebrities (what?) you can make your own MeDoll. Creating a MeDoll takes time and patience, since you have to scroll through different options one at a time.

Tip: When printing your celebrity paper doll, print on card stock to make it more like a real paper doll. Otherwise, how can you play with it?

Stardoll is definitely a fun time wasting site for anyone who likes to play with dolls and try their hand at dressing up popular celebrities.
