Dress Up like Carrie from Sex and the City for Halloween

Halloween is nearing, and it's time to find out what exactly we'll be dressing up as. There are many things to choose from, some harder to execute than others. Here, for all of you Sex and the City fans, I'll be explaining how to dress up like Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) from the show for Halloween. The first thing you need to do, is figure out what to wear. That can be hard, as Sarah Jessica Parker wears so many different outfits in Sex and the City. To make yourself truly stand out in the crowd, and really look like Carrie, you should probably stick to one of her vibrant designer dresses.

Clothing:

You may want to wear a dress very similar to Carrie's Vivienne Westwood wedding dress in the Sex and the City movie! You can buy an old/used wedding dress or a white prom dress from a thrift store, and tailor it (if you have sewing skills) to look like the one from the movie. Or, you can just test your luck and find one that looks very similar. If all else fails, and you're willing to spend some extra dough, you can just buy a new similar wedding dress, one that would retail for maybe $150.

But if you are going to do the wedding dress, remember her memorable blue-feathered veil!

Or you could also try to remake or find the memorable Hibiscus dress she wore on the show, shown in this picture:

But my first pick would have to be one of her kooky designer-esque cocktail dresses, like the one pictured here:

As for shoes, stiletto heels are a must. Brand doesn't matter, as long as they look sleek and chic.

Jewelry:

The best jewelry to wear would be chandelier earrings, a cute cocktail ring on your right hand, and maybe a small bracelet resembling a band.

Makeup:

Sarah Jessica Parker wears minimal makeup while playing Carrie in Sex and the City.

Her makeup artist always tried to accentuate her natural beauty, and mostly make her look as if she had very little makeup on.

Sweep some light, warm-colored shimmery shadow up to your creases, and maybe a darker warm color in the creases, blended.

Using a grey or charcoal eyeliner, lining from the middle of your eye lids (at the lashes!) to the outer corners on both the top and the bottom is a great start!

If you have long lashes, great! If you don't, applying some long, full, natural-looking lashes will make your eyes really pop.

A rosy, light blush over the apples of your cheeks will do wonders as well!

Sarah Jessica Parker (as Carrie in Sex and the City) almost always wears very light shades of lip stick/gloss.

Lip sticks in shades of coral, pink, beige, tan and sometimes red are used mostly.

Hair:

Carrie's hair tended to change a lot, but the one style that was really memorable was her long, dirty blonde, highlighted beach waves.

For that look, it is best to wash, condition, and dry. Then, you should straighten, so your own wave doesn't get in the way of the waves you'll be producing.

After all of that is done, take a large-barreled curling iron, let it heat up, and twist 1 inch sections of hair around the barrel. Let it sit for 7 seconds, and slowly pull downwards.

Do this all over your head.

The best props that you could possibly use are an adorable hand-bag (designer-looking) or a martini glass. :)
