Drew Peterson Allegedly Confesses to Inmate Who Leads Authorities to Stacy's Body?

Did Drew Peterson Finally Confess to Killing Fourth Wife Stacy Peterson?

Update at end

Drew Peterson may have confessed to a fellow inmate to killing his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, who has been missing since January 2007. Peterson, a former policeman, was indicted and is currently on trial for killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio, whose body he discovered in the bathtub of their home in 2004.

TMZ reports that Peterson told a fellow inmate how he killed Stacy and where he disposed of her body. That inmate alerted authorities who made contact with an alleged accomplice, leading them to an area near Peoria, IL, where the body was supposedly buried. Dogs brought in to assist in the search alerted on the location that was indicated as the burial spot.

Authorities are expected to dig in that area today, but initial reports say that they hit a solid substance under the ground yesterday which could be the metal drum that Stacy's body is alleged to have been buried in.

Remains thought to have been Stacy Peterson were found on a bank not far from the Des Plaines River last month but were later identified as being a male victim.

Peterson was still serving with the Bolingbrook IL police department and was the one who reported Kathleen's death in 2004. Several inconsistencies were found in crime scene reports at the time, but it wasn't until Stacy Peterson's disappearance in 2007 that authorities looked closer at Drew Peterson's possible involvement. Drew Peterson has continually claimed innocence of any wrongdoing in the death of Kathleen or Stacy, so it is unclear why he would confide in another inmate at this point in the case.

Stacy's sister, who reported her missing, has always believed Peterson to be responsible, saying Stacy was in fear of her life. Of interest is the report that Stacy Peterson gave statements attesting to Drew's whereabouts in the days prior to discovering Kathleen's body.

Update: The Chicago Sun Times reports Sunday that after 12 hours, police found no signs of Stacy Peterson's remains in the wooded area near Peoria and have called off the digging. Authorities also say that the report of Drew Peterson confiding in a fellow inmate are false as Peterson has been in solitary confinement with no contact with other prisoners.

Exactly, Tiffany - I was thinking the needle myself. He needs to go bye-bye and now.

He deserves to get the needle. As a cop, he is far to intelligent about what he did with the body of Stacy. I believe her body will never be found. He is a sick sick man, and I am glad he is off the streets especially since he is so close to my town...

I just don't know how people can kill someone and live with themselves.

I'm anxious to see if they find her remains where he reportedly said they were or whether it's just another one of his wild goose chases. Good article.
