Green Tea
This tea is high in antioxidants. We use it for weight control and as an immune system booster. Now we know it has anti-viral capacity too. The EGCG in green tea has been shown to prevent viral infections and kill viruses. What a pleasant way to get rid of the flu. Just drink a nice hot cup of green tea every few hours. The tea will kill the virus, the heated liquid will clear sinuses and soothe the throat. Flu symptoms will dissipate quickly and without that drugged feeling.
Orange Juice
Add an old time favorite drink to your natural flu cures. Turns out Mom was right again. Drinking orange juice daily can ward off flu and the common cold. The antioxidants and vitamin C in orange juice keep you healthy and boost your immune system when you are sick with the flu. In addition, orange juice has a germ killing effect on infected throats. The high potassium levels in orange juice also keep away fatigue and loss of energy.
Grape and Apple Juice
Orange juice isn't the only natural fruit juice cure for the flu. Add grape and apple juices to the list as well. These two juices contain the most potent antiviral ingredients of any commercial juices. Natural fruit juices can effectively kill flu virus. They have even been shown to inhibit polio virus. Grape and apple juice come in just under tea as natural cures for the flu.
Ginger Tea
Ginger has long been used to soothe aching stomachs and other digestive issues. Now we know it also eases other flu symptoms. If you have stomach flu, ginger tea can be an invaluable natural cure. Ginger tea is not only anti-viral, it can also help with congestion and other respiratory concerns. Just grate a little fresh ginger into boiling water and steep for several minutes. It also goes well with lemon and honey.
Adding Peppermint, Lemon and Honey
Adding lemon, honey or both to natural flu cures can boost their power. Lemon is high in antioxidants and the citrus kills germs. Honey soothes throats and also has germ battling qualities. Peppermint perks you up and clears the respiratory system. Adding any of these ingredients to your natural cure drinks for the flu can boost their power.
