Drink Recipes for the 4th of July: Tea for Two (or 20)

Pam Gaulin
Here are four drink recipes for the summertime, and your next tea for two get together.

Iced tea is a warm-weather and warm climate staple. Are you looking for some new cold drink recipes that revolve around this refreshing beverage? You can brew your own or buy pre-made beverage mixes or bottles and spruce them up with additional flavors, by using these drink recipes.

In these cold drink recipes, remember that brewing tea for an iced beverage is slightly different than for a hot beverage.

When brewing with these homemade recipes, remember to make the tea strong than you would if you were going to drink it hot. Adding ice to the drink recipe, along with other drink recipe ingredients, will dilute the flavor. Add and extra two teabags to make up the flavor difference, when you will be serving with ice.

Also, any of these drink recipes can be made with teabags that contain caffeine or with the decaffeinated variety. You can also make a beverage with less caffeine by steeping an equal number of caffeinated and decaffeinated teabags. This will lessen the caffeine content in each glass the cold beverage, depending on the time of day of your tea for two get together.

1. Drink Recipe for Pomegranate-Infused Iced Tea

Combine unsweetened pomegranate juice, lemon juice, and freshly brewed white tea for a delectable tea for two.

Or, let PomTea do the work for you. It is the ingenious combination of pomegranate juice and teabags. This cold beverage is light on the caffeine, with only 4mg of caffeine. It is also incredibly flavorful, due in no small part to the addition of healthy and sweet pomegranate juice.

PomTea even comes in its own tall glass. Just bring your own straw.

You could make your own Pomegranate infused beverage when you buy a bottle of pomegranate juice and add it to homemade iced tea.

2. Drink Recipe for Ginger-Orange Infused White Iced Tea

Brew your own delicate white iced tea and add some freshly shaved pieces of ginger root and slices of orange. Let the ginger sit in the same container as the steeping teabag and the water. Strain out the ginger before serving this cold drink recipe.

You can leave the orange slices in the drink recipe or remove them. Garnish the glass with one fresh orange slice.

3. Drink Recipe for Minty Peach Iced Tea

The Minty Peach drink recipe is a delicious dessert beverage that can aid with digestion, naturally. Fresh springs of mint added to the iced drink recipe cool you off, and calm the stomach.

Brew your mint teabag and add slices of fresh peaches. Add mint sprigs and sugar.

4. Drink Recipe for The Lemonade-Tea Rush

One of the most flavorful beverage combinations is to combine equal portions of brewed caffeinated and brewed teabags with lemonade. I never tried this until I lived in Florida. It's wonderful and refreshing, as the two beverage flavors complement each other without being overpowering.

Interesting recipes. I don't usually like fruit teas, but these sound good.
