Drinking is a Sin for Christians

Getting drunk is clearly a sin for Christians. No one is exempt from sin, including Christians who truly believe in the concept of sin. A Christian can't constantly abuse alcohol and keep asking for forgiveness, that isn't how repentance works. Jesus never got drunk when he was human, and he calls on Christians to follow his examples. Jesus turned water into wine, but it was for celebratory purposes. They drank the wine responsibly, and no one got intoxicated off it. Christians are supposed to be examples for everyone else, and getting drunk is a bad example for others.

When you get drunk you're abusing alcohol, and Christians are commanded not to abuse or misuse any substance God has provided us. If you spend too much time with alcoholic, you're not spending enough time with God. God states that drunkenness is a sin on its own. Drinking too much is gluttony, and gluttony is a sin for Christians. Most people use alcohol as a way to escape from their problems and the pressures of every day life.

As Christians, we're told that we'll be punished if we defy God. When a Christian is getting drunk, he or she is clearly defying God and being disobedient. Not only is drinking a sin, it's a punishable sin for all Christians. God wants all Christians to lead clean, sober lives no mater what others around them do. God wants us to enjoy our lives and have some pleasure, but too much alcohol or too much of anything for that matter isn't one of those things.

Too much alcohol isn't good for your body, and can lead to alcohol poisoning. Having an excess of alcohol in your system can lead to permanent bodily harm. Since alcohol is just empty calories, too much of it can lead to unwanted weight gain and even obesity. As Christians, we're required to treat our bodies as temples and be careful what we put into them. Our bodies weren't created for too much alcohol, and God commands us not to drink too much alcohol anyway.

As Christians, we must face our ordeals and ask God to help guide us. Drinking too much leads to things that Christians wouldn't ever do sober. Drinking problems not only affect the drinker, they affect the friends and family members around them. God condemns using alcohol to get drunk, and commands us never to do it. Christians must turn to God, not drinks to help them take care of their problems.
