Drive 7-Hour Energy Shot - Product Review

Ben Wood
(As always, it's important to be careful when consuming energy drinks and shots, and if you've never tried energy shots before, be careful when trying a Drive 7-Hour Energy shot. Always read the label for usage instructions, and if you have any concerns about the safety of taking one, talk with a qualified physician before use.)

In the past few years, energy shots have become a big market item, hoping to capitalize on the popularity of energy drinks while also addressing the most commonly cited negatives about energy drinks: High sugar content and excessive carbonation. A new energy shot, Drive 7-Hour Energy Shot, is available exclusively at Target stores, and provides a cheap alternative to comparable products like 5-Hour Energy and Monster Hitman.

The first thing that will be noticed about Drive 7-Hour Energy Shot is the bright packaging. It comes in packages of two or four energy shots, one a bright maroon (raspberry flavor) and one bright pink (pink lemonade flavor). Although the packaging is somewhat garishly colored, it is very attention grabbing. The second thing that is likely to be noticed is the cheap price tag: $3.99 for the two-pack and $4.99 for the four pack. This compares very well to price of 5-Hour Energy, which costs anywhere from $12 for a pack of six to over $3 for a single shot at a gas station.

Being cheap doesn't mean a product is good, so luckily Drive 7-Hour Energy Shot provides a decent amount of energy and amazing taste. Although its name leads the consumer to believe it provides a longer lasting experience, Drive 7-Hour Energy Shot compares most readily with 5-Hour Energy in terms of amount of energy provided. It'll help keep you up and going, but doesn't provide the extra kick that can be found in products like 5-Hour Energy Extra Strength, Monster Hitman, or Redline Power Rush.

The taste of Drive 7-Hour Energy Shot, however, is amazing. Both the raspberry and pink lemonade flavors are powerful and, unlike many other energy shots, it doesn't feel like any taste was sacrificed to get all of the energy ingredients into such a small serving. The pink lemonade flavor was a little too sweet for my taste, but both flavors are definitely near the top among energy shots.

Overall, Drive 7-Hour Energy Shot is a great tasting alternative to many of the major brand energy shots, and is cheaper than just about any other that I've found. This product is recommended to anyone who has tried other energy shots and is looking for something new/different.
