Drivetime: Get a Car in a Bad Economy with Bad Credit

DiamondJewelSpiritHeaven
When I first moved to the North Carolina area, I crashed my car. I noticed many commercials on television for a company that could get me approved for a car with bad credit. My credit is pretty bad with school loans, outstanding credit debt and extreme financial difficulties after my divorce.

I was in pretty bad financial shape-- which is no treat in this economy. I decided to go on line and go through the application process anyway. Even with my bad credit, I was approved for a car. I was quite happy. I didn't wait for the company to call me. I called my local branch instantly and stated that I would need a ride to the location; but, was ready to come and get a car as soon as the next day. They were very courteous and friendly and quickly agreed to make arrangements for me that would work into my work schedule.

But, there was one catch. The amount of money I had to put in for my down payment was more than I had at the time. But, if I'd had the down payment; I would have had a car within 12 hours of filling out the on line application which literally took only 5 minutes of my time, (despite my bad credit and despite the economy.) That meant something to me.

I decided to learn more about the company. I decided that once I'd saved up the down payment; then I would come back--unless I'd found a better deal.

In this economy; there are many people that need a car company like this. I found the staff at the branch in Raleigh to be polite and efficient with me on the phone. They were also willing to go beyond protocol in providing me with transportation to the dealership so I could lease my car.

In reviewing their website, I noticed that they had some decent lease programs; and seemed like a reputable car company.

They offer a 53 point inspection for all of their cars--since they do deal in used cars. They also claim to offer one of the best warranties in the business. They call it their Drive Care Limited Warranty.

They also have a program wherein you can add more money to the balance of your car and receive a reduced rate for future payments.

Let's say that your down payment is $1000; and your monthly payment is $200. Then you put down an additional $500 before the first 30 days is over. They would apply that toward your down payment and your rate might reduce to $150-$175. This program is called Rate Advantage.

They also offer a program to honor our military service men and women, called Military Merit. Military men and women are offered down payments as low as $700 and are extended more affordable rates. They also receive auto pay through allotments; so they don't have to worry about paying on schedule.

This company may be able to help a lot of individuals with bad credit and families that are stuggling in this bad economy. They really do take a chance on people with bad credit backgrounds that are trying to make a change for the better.
