Driving During Rush Hour

How to Behave While Driving During Rush Hour

How do you behave while driving during rush hour? In this fast tracked world, nobody wants to be left behind, even on the road during rush hour.

It is often said that your best or worst behaviour, and your true character will surface while driving during rush hour. Everyone is rushing somewhere, and even if you are not, you are pulled into the activities of other drivers along the road.

* First of all, imagine that your employer has his binoculars focused on you, and your drive is your interview. If Mr. Policeman has a greater hold on you, imagine all the hidden cameras along your way. The money wasted on fines or jail time is certainly not worth a moment of folly.

* Next, remember all the family members and friends who will miss you dearly when you are gone. Why not drive with care so that you can have more time with them? With that mindset, you are bound to be in control even if other road users are not.

* Always ensure a safe braking distance. Even if the vehicle behind you does not ensure that, you are still in control, and you will be able to adjust the braking distance between the vehicles, ahead of you and behind you.

* Travel within the correct speed limit for your lane. If other drivers are not following that, and are faster, give way to them. Remember that the tortoise finally won the race with his slow and steady traveling ways, while the hare lost in every way. A few seconds lost from your life do not matter when you think of the consequences of a bad accident.

* Remember courtesy exists even on the road. Give way to other vehicles. There is no need to show that you are the superior driver. Everyone wins when all are home safely end of the journey.

* Before you get out of the car park, ensure that all your mirrors are properly adjusted to enable you to spot vehicles on all sides. Be alert of road hoggers and vehicles that suddenly appear behind you or by your sides. They are possibly going to cut into your lane at unexpected moments. It is better to let them do that safely, than let them crash into your beloved vehicle.

* When you are caught in a jam, remember that everyone else is too. Avoid driving on the road shoulder, no matter how tempted you are, unless traffic is obstructed by an accident on some lanes and you are being diverted by traffic police onto the road shoulder.

* Keep a happy countenance, even if other drivers cut into your lane. Remember, someone greater than they are is watching you.

* When you are switching lanes, give the proper signals and response time. You cannot turn into a lane that someone else is jealously guarding. Let the vehicle go and wait for a good Samaritan who will let you into the lane.

* Always thank the person who has allowed you to cut into his path. Courtesy applies to all road users.

* Give way to motorcyclists. There is no way you are going to meander through the traffic as they can, and those split seconds are not worth splitting hair over.

* When you encounter the aftermath of a road accident, do not slow down and be a busybody. Let the proper authorities render aid. Drive past the scene as quickly as possible. Do not add to the pile up or the rush hour madness.

* Have a hold of your emotions and focus. Do not let the morning squabble with your loved ones or the unfair chiding of your employer get a hold on you. Do not pass on the heat of the moment to other road users.

When everyone is in a rush, it is difficult to keep a level head. By remembering to behave well on the road, you ensure a happier rush hour madness for yourself and those along the same route.
