Drum Lessons in the Ventura Area

Relieve Stress and Improve Brain Power with Drumming

Rachel de Carlos
Music is a great stress reliever and a mood lifter. Listening is good. Doing is better. Research shows that children who learn a musical instrument do better in school, especially in math classes. Adults who learn a musical instrument have lower stress levels and exercise areas in their brain that could help to ward off the natural effects of aging, such as dementia. Here are some local suggestions for drum lessons for students of all ages and abilities.

Ryan is listed with the TakeLessons site and has passed a criminal background check. His area of expertise are drums and percussion. He's based in Woodland Hills and is available Monday through Thursday for studio lessons or in-home lessons for students age 4 - 99.

Private lessons are $60/hour, or $50 if you purchase a package of 4 or more lessons.

Half hour lessons are $35/each, or $28 if you purchase a package of 4 or more lessons.

Ventura College

For students with some experience, Ventura College offers private percussion lessons that will earn you college credit. The hours for lessons are arranged with the instructor totaling 6 hours/week. Private lessons can be taken for a maximum of 4 times, which is two years of lessons. Register at Ventura College as a student to be able to take advantage of these private percussion lessons. The course is MUS V31F. The enrollment fee for this course is $60 for California residents. There are other fees for attending the college, such as health fees and student body fees, but it works out to be the best value for money when it comes to private lessons. Financial aid is available.

Great job noting the criminal background check passing, not mentioned often. :)

One of my teenage twins wants to drum. She started to in band at school but gave it up. I hope she doesn't see this article and want drum lessons, as she's still always asking for a drum set! Nice thorough research!

You're a woman of many talents! And I wish you were in Ventura, too! :)

Wish I was in Ventura! I love drums, I can play, but not like I'd like to be able to play!
