Drunk Woman Whom Had Sex with an Underage Boy Gets a Minor Sentence

In the crazy world we live in there are many things that happen. One of the current major problems in society is underage pornography and adults having sex with underage minors to fulfill their sick fantasies. Such examples come from the fresh Miss America sting operation which can be found here. Miss America will now be testifying in court for the sting, which will help punish, and possibly incarcerate some sex offenders.

However, a woman by the name of Diana Bennett, age 30, from the town known as Melton, has been charged with having sex with an underage teenager.

The incident originally occured in January of 2005. Bennett was heavily intoxicated from so much drinking when the boy, at the age of 15, made contact with Bennett. According to my source, the boy had tried getting in contact with Benett multiple times, possibly to try to engage in sexual intercourse when she was sober. The 15 year old was always denied contact with Bennett during these moments, until he finally came in contact with her by engaging in sexual intercourse with her that fateful night in January of 2005.

To have sex, Benett went to the 15-year-old's house, where they engaged in sexual intercourse in his bedroom. Bennett, according to my source, was drunk from the prior night from heavy drinking. While engaged in their sexual activity, a friend of the 15-year-old's walked in and caught the two in the sexual act.

The judge in the case, Judge Lance Pilgrim, noted that Benett had severe psychological, as well as alcohol related problems, which heavily played a part in why the offense even occured.

Bennett was very open with police when it came to the investigation of the offense, which helped lower her jail time altogether. When someone works well with police, it helps the investigation move much faster, rather than trying to manipulate and/or force the information out. Pilgrim noted that Bennett had also seeked rehabilitation for her problems, hoping to ensure that this offense would never ever happen again.

Judge Pilgrim sentenced Bennett to 12 months in jail for her underage sexual offense, and will also register her as a sex offender.

Although this may seem like a slap on the wrist to many, being registered as a sex offender is something that follows you around your life forever. In order to gain access to a new home, for example, a sex offender must warn neighbors in the area. There are specific websites in which information about sexual offenders are located all over the country. Is it heavily controversial right now whether these websites, and other acts such as having to tell neighbors that they are sex offenders, are lawful, as they have served their time for their crime. As of right now, it is lawful.

Someone who generally commits such a serious sexual act with an underage child gets more time, and more penalization. However, due to the fact that Benett worked with police, and seeks rehabilitation, she got a slap on the wrist in the aspect of jail time.
