Despite the fact that the original Eucerin crème is highly effective in the treatment of dry skin and skin conditions such as eczema, some consumers have turned away from the product because of its texture. Original Eucerin Crème is a very thick, heavy, and somewhat greasy crème that is similar to petroleum jelly. Original Eucerin works very well, but is difficult to spread over the skin and leaves the skin feeling greasy until the product is absorbed. Absorption can take hours. This is highly effective in treating dry skin and eczema, therefore original Eucerin a good night-time product, but is less comfortable during active waking hours of the day.
Beiersdorf, Incorporated, the makers of Eucerin, apparently realized they were losing consumers to less heavy, more user-friendly skin care products and introduced a version of the Original Eucerin Crème in a lighter, more spread-able lotion version. A very good skin care product, the lotion is better than many other dry skin lotions on the market, but its effects did not last as long as the crème and so the lotion performed somewhat less admirably.
Devoted to creating great quality, affordable skin care products, Beiersdorf, Inc. persisted and developed a wider Eucerin product line to fill in the gaps in their consumer market share. Thus Eucerin released a new product last year, Eucerin Calming Crème.
Eucerin Calming Crème is an excellent treatment for dry skin and eczema. The crème is thicker than Eucerin's original lotion version, but not nearly as thick as the original Eucerin Crème, resulting in a formulation that is heavy enough to stay on the skin and create a moisturizing barrier, yet light enough to be spread and worked adequately into dry skin. With their Calming Crème, Eucerin has also solved the problem of having a greasy product that is offending to the touch. Eucerin Calming Crème has a rich, creamy texture that is something reminiscent of a shea butter.
The makers of Eucerin Calming Crème recognized that the itching associated with dry skin and eczema is as much a problem in quelling outbreaks as the cause itself. Scratching further damages the skin, resulting in outbreaks that are difficult to heal. By adding colloidal oatmeal to the product, Eucerin Calming Crème helps to quiet itching, and in turn scratching, allowing the body the calm it needs to rejuvenate and heal dry skin. However, the oatmeal in Eucerin Calming Crème is not of the chunky, abrasive quality seen in many skin care products with oatmeal added. In fact, the oatmeal is not noticeable at all, but for its positive effect in treating dry skin and eczema and controlling the associated itch.
As always, this Eucerin product is free from drying, irritating fragrances and harsh chemicals and is gentle enough to be used daily, even on small children. (It is recommended to contact your pediatrician before using on children under two.) Eucerin claims it Calming Crème is effective for twenty-four hours, and use shows this to be true. The product makes a dramatic difference within hours of applying the crème, and with subsequent, once daily use, all but the most severe dry skin problems can be adequately controlled.
Eucerin Calming Crème is affordably priced at just over six dollars for an eight ounce tube. The value is further increased because the product does not have to be reapplied several times throughout the day, making an eight ounce tube last longer.
Eucerin Calming Crème is widely available at pharmacies and grocery stores. A highly effective product for those dealing with even severe dry skin and eczema problems, Eucerin Calming Crème will quickly become the one skin care product your house relies on.

Post a CommentGreat article! We're avid Eucerin users, too, but have also used the Wal Mart equivalent. I did a product review of it for AC.

Sounds great. I will have to try it this Winter.
This stuff is great. My pediatrician gave it to me for my son when he was an infant and developed bad dry skin. If it worked on that, and is gental enough for infants, it's got my vote!
Good article, I am going out today and buying some for my mom. She has an awful time with dry skin. And I myself with try almost anything with the words calming, or relaxing.
I love this product. It's the only lotion that works on dry, "winter" arms!
