Dryel Garment Cleaner

Home Dry Cleaning Kit Reduces Professional Dry Cleaning Costs

Clothing is expensive and for the money paid, we do all that is possible to preserve and care for our garments to ensure a long life of wear. When I purchase clothing, I always check the fabric care guide for the manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning the garment. Limiting clothing purchases to only washable clothing restricts clothing selections. How does one buy only washable career or dressy outfits?Admittedly, dry cleanable garments are an added expense to the clothing budget but dry cleaning does keep clothes looking new and crisp for a longer period of time than constant washing of the garment.

Dryel is an alternative to professional dry cleaning and can be done in your home. Dryel is a home dry cleaning kit manufactured by Proctor & Gamble and contains the necessary items to safely dry clean hand washable garments such as linens, cottons, rayon, wools, silks as well as other special care fabrics. The garments have a light scent when the dry cleaning process is completed. I find the scent is much more pleasant than the scents you sometimes experience when clothes are professionally dry cleaned. Other than a clothes dryer, no special equipment is needed.

The Dryel Kit contains all the components necessary to dry clean your item. The Dryel kit contains, a fabric bag, absorbent stain remover pads, a small bottle of stain remover, premoistened cleaning cloths and an easy to understand instruction pamphlet. When using Dryel, remove any stains with the stain remover absorbent pad by placing the pad under the stain and gently squeezing the bottle to release its contents. You then place up to four garments into the fabric bag which is supplied in the kit, being careful not to fill the cleaning bag more than half full. After you place the garments into the fabric bag provided, you toss in a premoistened drying cloth which is lightly scented. You then place the bag into the clothes dryer for approximately 30 minutes on medium heat. Ideally, the clothes should be damp when removed from the dryer. You may have to adjust the drying time to allow the garments to be slightly damp. Hang the cleaned garments and when dry, iron as needed. Hanging the garments immediately after removing them from the dryer helps to eliminate some but not necessarily all the wrinkles depending upon the fabric.

I have used Dryel and just recently cleaned cotton tees, a jacket and dress ensemble and other small items and was quite pleased with the results. Dryel is excellent when taking clothes out of storage for the season and preparing them to wear for the current season. The items that I cleaned were summer clothes that had been in winter storage. Instead of taking my casual clothing to the dry cleaners, I cleaned the clothes with Dryel. They came out fresh looking and after touch up ironing the garments were ready to be worn. The cost in savings is significant. The money saved using Dryel could be applied to having my "Dry Clean Only" clothing professionally dry cleaned. Dryel does not eliminate the need for all dry cleaning because some garments do require the attention of your neighborhood dry cleaner. I view Dryel as an economical alternative in reducing the cost of dry cleaning. As determined by themanufacturer, the cost of cleaning the garments with Dryel is $.60 per load. Garments exclusive of ornamentation such as beads, sequins or other such decorations lend themselves well to home dry cleaning with Dryel. Fabrics such as suede, leather, velvet and certain wools are not suitable for home dry cleaning and should be taken to the professional dry cleaner.

Dryel is available in supermarkets, Wal -Mart, Target , Walgreens and other large retail stores. Kit refills can be purchased eliminating the cost of buying a whole new kit each time. For home dry cleaning some of your clothing, I heartily endorse and recommend Dryel as an efficient and cost effective option to professional dry cleaning. It is easy to use, can be safely done in your home and reduces dry cleaning costs.
