Ducks Beat Beavers to Reach National Title Game

CORVALLIS, Oregon - The University of Oregon football team secured its first trip to the NCAA championship game with a 37-13 victory over Oregon State on Saturday in the 114th version of the Civil War.

The Ducks improved to 12-0 overall, 9-0 in Pac-10 Conference play and beat the Beavers for the third consecutive time.

LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner each topped 100 yards rushing for the Ducks, who are set to face Auburn for the national title on January 10, 2011 in Glendale, Arizona.

James finished with 134 yards and two touchdowns, and Barner had 133 yards and one touchdown. Jeff Maehl caught seven passes for 86 yards, D.J. Davis had three receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown, and quarterback Darron Thomas went 14-for-24 for 145 yards and two TDs.

Ryan Katz was 24-for-41 for 227 yards and two touchdowns for Oregon State, but his two interceptions proved key to the Ducks' win.

Jacquizz Rodgers carried the ball 22 times for 87 yards, and Markus Wheaton caught 11 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown.
