Duggar Family Expecting 18th Child
All of the children are home schooled and each child's name begins with a J. The plans for more children are in the works as the father, Jim Bob Duggar, stated that they will continue to have children for as long as they can. Jim Bob Duggar is a former state legislator who served from 1999 to 2002 in the Arkansas House of Representatives, as reported by Trans World News.
Being the mother of six children, I am often asked how we do it. I usually state that there is never a dull moment in my house or in the middle of Wal-Mart. Having so many children has its benefits as well as its drawbacks. I can honestly say that I have finally learned the meaning of being conservative.
Hand-me-downs are great as long as the style stays the same. If what's in style changes, you might as well forget about passing the clothes down because you kid probably won't wear something that is outdated. Thrift stores and sales have become my best friends, and I often feel as though I am married to them.
Family meals are very exciting around my house. We seem to always get in each other's way, but the good news is that there is hardly ever any food wasted. I have also learned that what one kid won't eat, the other one will. It looks like Thanksgiving at our house with all the different food items, the kids can never make up their mind on what they want to eat.
Bath time is a real treat; I now throw the three girls in the tub together. This usually ends up with water all over the floor and the oldest getting mad at the youngest. I went and bought a water vacuum to take care of the mess. The boys don't take a bath together because of the age difference between the three.
Bed time is never easy around my home. I have to make my daily runs to give each child a kiss and say the good night prayers with each. By the end of the night, I have said my prayers seven times including my own and I feel really blessed.
A difference in ages is a struggle. I always thought that when you have children who are far a part in age that they would get along better. The truth is that when they are a couple of years a part, they play with each other and when they are a few years a part; they get on each others nerves.
The truth about everything is that having a large family is like having a party 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We laugh together, we cry together, and sometimes half of us are laughing while the other half is crying.

You know what is ignorant%3F Claiming you love children so much that you have too many instead of adopting the ones who are less fortunate. If this family really cared about charity they would have used their resources to adopt some of the unwanted children from countries which cannot properly care for them. Know why the mentioned countries have so many environmental%2C social%2C health and political issues%3F Overpopulation. Religion should not be the motivation for bragging about the fact that you and your spouse have a mental disorder which drives you to reproduce excessively. In fact%2C it is an insult to all religions. We are not short-lived creatures with very high mortality rates in this country%3B having so many children is not necessary%2C sane%2C environmentally sound%2C decent and destructive. Not to mention the media glorification of this mentally unstable family makes Americans look awful on the international forum.
You people bashing the duggar family are ignorant. They are not on any sort of welfare system and they are supporting theirselves. If they want to have 50 kids I personally think that is great. I am a hard-working nurse, i have 2 kids, and everyday I deal with peolple who "claim to be "DISABLED" so they dont't have to work and we struggle to live paycheck to paycheck so these low-lifes can milk the system on our tax dollars. If the Duggars can afford to have more children while not asking the fellow americans for hand-out after hand-out then more power to them. My kids and I watch them on TV every chance we get and would be thrilled to meet them, as they have a lovely family. I always wished for a whole houseful of children but God only saw for me to have 2. I would have loved to have the large family that they have. Come on, 18 kids!!! Yes, indeed a child (a pregnancy) is ALWAYS a blessing from God, but how do you have that special one on one time with each and every one of them?! I am 1 out of 7, and I can tell you that there are a few of us that felt neglected emotionally, not that we didn't have hard working parents, but felt that one on one time with mom or dad was absent, don't tell me they have that going on! Its the kids that are doing all the chores, and taking care of the younger ones, that's plan wrong, you have to have the kids be kids, Im not saying they are bad parents, far from it, and yes they can chose to have as many as they want, my personal opinion on this is, ITS CRAZY! I have 2 kids, and would LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to have another, but I have to tell myself, financially can we afford to put another one through college?? answer: NO, and its not fair that the children get that opportunity! These people are nuts - oh wait - they're Bible spouting Christians - which is the equivalent of being nuts.
This is the reason why this country is going to pot - the crazy religious nuts of all persuasions are having tons of crazy kids, while sane intelligent people are having reasonable sized families.
There are too many people on this planet - the earth cannot sustain the amount there is now, why continue to over-populate an already strained eco-system. But I guess that doesn't matter if you think the end of the world is neigh and you're all going up to heaven.
To each his own... I wouldn't be able to handle 18 children but if their family is as together as they appear on t.v., which I would assume they would have to be in order to conduct themselves like that on television, I believe Michelle is doing a fantasic job as a mother, wife and parter. I am sure she is a smart woman who will take care of herself knowing when enough is enough for her body and mind but until that point I think we should all just let them be. The kids seem well taken care of, the older children haven't even felt the need to leave home yet. Shouldn't that tell us something is going right behind those walls?
I feel sorry for the children. They have to do pretty much everything around the house. When do they have time to be kids!!
