Duggars Expecting Number 20

TLC's reality show, "19 Kids and Counting " will soon get another name. The Arkansas parents of 19, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, announced on the "Today Show' on November 8th they are expecting their twentieth baby. The other kids range in age from 23 months to 23 years and all their names start with J. Micheele.,45, is due to give birth via scheduled C-section in April 2012. The Duggars are thrilled in spite of the firestorm of criticism. The audience of 'The View' moaned at the announcement and blogs are ablaze with assorted opinions.

Jim BOB says Michelle is the healthiest she has ever been in ten years. She walks on he elliptical trainer and eats nutritious foods. It is the longest Michelle has gone without being pregnant. The Duggars are no strangers to controversy. The nineteenth baby, Josie, was born three months premature in December 2010 weighing 1 pound 6 ounces. Josie spent the first few months of her life in the NICU at Arkansas Children's Hospital. She came home only to return a few days later because of digestive issues. Josie became ill on their recent trip to Israel and England and critics fired back wondering if it is good for a preemie to travel so far.

Then, there is controversy over the older girls caring for the younger children. The Duggars use what is called a buddy system. The buddy system assigns an older child a younger child to help with things like reading, music, and dressing. Jessa, 19, says it is a misconception that the older girls raise the younger ones. The kids seemed just as excited at the announcement as the parents.

The Duggars are often called Quiverfull though they deny any connection with the movement. Quiverfull shuns all forms of birth control. They are a movement and not a specific religion. The name is taken from Psalms 123:3-5.
