Dukan Diet: Lose Weight by Eating Proteins ONLY

A french Doctor, Pierre Dukan, has created another weight loss program based on protein consumption. It is claimed that the Dukan diet is for people who permanently say "I don't know how to lose weight." In fact Dr. Dukan's book is titled "Je ne sais pas maigrir", which translate to "I don't know how to lose weight."

The Dukan diet is for extremely obese people, so a word of advice, please ask your doctor before starting this new eating regime. Dr. Dukan claims that during his practice as a nutritionist in France he had found a system to let extremely obese people lose those unwanted pound by eating ONLY proteins. The diet is extremely restrictive in what you can eat but nor in how much you can eat.

In the Dukan diet you are allowed to eat only: meat (beef, veal), poultry (no skin and excludes duck and goose), lean ham, fish & seafood, and fat-free dairy products. Teas and coffee are allowed without sugar but sweeteners are permitted. THAT'S IT! Is that simple just eat what ever you need to feel full of these 5 food categories and you are set to lose weight with the Dukan diet (this is what the book claims).

As you can see the Dukan Diet is a high (very high) protein diet. It is also said that due to the high protein content of the Dukan diet you need to increase water intake by 2 or three times more that what you normally drink. In fact, it is recommended to drink 2-3 liters per day.

As with many diet solutions, the Dukan diet is a "life-changing"solution. The complete Dukan Diet is made of 4 phases: the Attack phase, the Weight Loss phase, the Stabilization phase and the Cruise phase. Pardon me but I see some marketing here and some similarities to other popular diets such as Atkins, and South Beach Diet. The 2 initial phases are focused on losing weight in a consistent manner. The following 2 phases are there to prevent regaining weight.

Overall the diet seem to work well for obese people but wouldn't you loose weight also if you followed a more complete diet solution, that is were you eat less of everything? If you enjoy eating only meat then this diet is for you, if you can keep of eating all your life only meat things. As I said before always ask your doctor before staring any new diet regime.
