The film is about the Duke cousins, Bo and Scott Duke who have a knack for getting into trouble. They both race in car races in the town in the south. The film is a remake of the 1970s film and it does a pretty good job of replicating the old film. The Duke boys run a moonshine smuggling in the town and make a proft off of it to support their uncle who runs the farm, played by Willie Nelson. Nelson is also pretty funny in the film.
The trouble starts as the town mayor, played by Burt Reynolds hates the Duke Boys because they are always starting trouble. When the Dukes enter a bar in which their cousin, Daisy Duke, played by Jessica Simpson, (she looks stunning in the film), they run into trouble and engage in a bar fight. The fight is broken up by the mayor.
The storyline starts out when a famous race car driver from the town, visits but doesn't seem to interested in the town. As they dig deeper, they find out that their mayor is striping the town land and turning it into a mine unbeknownst to the town people. The scheme of the mayor to pay the famous NASCAR driver to drive in a race and have all the townspeople attend. That way, with everyone at the big race, Burt Reynolds can hold a court hearing to discuss the motion of the mine. If no one attends the meeting to object, than the mayor is free to do as he pleases.
In their search to discover the mayors plan, they engage in some funny scenes like one using dynamite and dragging a safe in thier car. Some scenes are really quite funny.
Towards the end of the film, the Duke boys are being chased in their General Lee car by the police. As they drive their car right into a car race, they win the race and lead the police and townspeople all the way to the court hearing, just in time to warn the people of the mayor's secret intentions of turning the town into a mine.
The Duke Boys save the day and their town.
I found the film to be very enjoyable and hilarious at times. I highly recommend this film for all movie viewers.
