Dumb and Stupid Laws in Kentucky

Janet Trieschman
Dumbness and stupidity can be found at the highest levels of our society. The law is not exempt from examples of stupidity. And it is found far and wide across our country in each and every state. All states have weird and dumb laws on the books. It is often more time consuming and costly to have them removed, so there they sit. They usually aren't acted upon but they are legal and binding and can be enacted upon if an officer of the law wanted to do so. Some are actually new and have been used recently. How strange are Kentucky's weird laws? Here are the top five strangest laws in Kentucky. These are listed here in descending order for your entertainment. It is hoped that you would not use them to enact a citizen's arrest! Talk about dumb and stupid!

Kentucky is known as the bluegrass state.

Number 5

Owensboro

One may not receive anal sex.

But you can give it!

Number 4

Fort Thomas

Dogs may not molest cars.

Because the cars need to be protected.

Number 3

Throwing eggs at a public speaker could result in up to one year in prison. (Repealed, 1975)

The prisons were getting crowded so they had to repeal it.

Number 2

It is illegal to fish with a bow and arrow in Kentucky.

So leave it at home.

Number 1

One may not dye a duckling blue and offer it for sale unless more than six are for sale at once.

Huh? The epitome of stupidity.

Warning: This piece is written as humor. For some, unfortunately, this needs to be stated.
