Dumb and Stupid Laws in Minnesota

Janet Trieschman
Dumbness and stupidity can be found at the highest levels of our society. The law is not exempt from examples of stupidity. And it is found far and wide across our country in each and every state. All states have weird and dumb laws on the books. It is often more time consuming and costly to have them removed, so there they sit. They usually aren't acted upon but they are legal and binding and can be enacted upon if an officer of the law wanted to do so. Some are actually new and have been used recently. How strange are Minnesota's weird laws? Here are the top five strangest laws in Minnesota. These are listed here in descending order for your entertainment. It is hoped that you would not use them to enact a citizen's arrest! Talk about dumb and stupid!

Minnesota is known as the gopher state.

Number 5
Citizens may not enter Wisconsin with a chicken on their head.
North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa are OK.

Number 4
A person may not cross state lines with a duck atop his head.
Getting more specific here!

Number 3
All men driving motorcycles must wear shirts.
No need for a helmet or glasses, the shirt will protect you just fine. And remember, going pant-less is an option. Women, shirt is optional!

Number 2
In St. Cloud, Hamburgers may not be eaten on Sundays.
Scratching my head.

Number 1
It is illegal to sleep naked.
Oh, darn. Wondering about the frostbite?

And a few I darn not comment on:
Oral sex is prohibited.

The land of 10,000 lakes declares mosquitoes a public nuisance.

It is illegal to stand around any building without a good reason to be there.

From Minneapolis
Red cars may not drive down Lake Street.

And a math problem from Cottage Grove:
Residents of even numbered addresses may not water their plants on odd-numbered days excluding the thirty first day where it applies.

Warning: This piece is written as humor. For some, unfortunately, this needs to be stated.
