Dumb and Stupid Laws in Texas

Janet Trieschman
Dumbness and stupidity can be found at the highest levels of our society. The law is not exempt from examples of stupidity. And it is found far and wide across our country in each and every state. All states have weird and dumb laws on the books. It is often more time consuming and costly to have them removed, so there they sit. They usually aren't acted upon but they are legal and binding and can be enacted upon if an officer of the law wanted to do so. Some are actually new and have been used recently. How strange are Texas's weird laws? Here are the top five strangest laws in Texas. These are listed here in descending order for your entertainment. It is hoped that you would not use them to enact a citizen's arrest! Talk about dumb and stupid!

Number 5

Up to a felony charge can be levied for promoting the use of, or owning more than six dildos.

Are things really bigger in Texas?

Number 4

A program has been created in the state that attempts to control the weather.

How? Why? Just to make sure, they know how weather works right?

Number 3

The Bluebonnet is the official song of the state flower.

So, their state flower has it's own song - to each their own.

Number 2

The entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in Texas because it contains a formula for making beer at home.

Did someone tell them the Encyclopedia Britannica is big - takes up a lot of room - seems like it would fit right in, in Texas.

Number 1
When two trains meet each other at a railroad crossing, each shall come to a full stop, and neither shall proceed until the other has gone.
My favorite of them all, it just makes me giggle to visualize this one!

funny! It's illegal in Arkansas to have an alligator in your bathtub. Now you know someone had to have done that or they wouldn't have made it a law! Only in Arkansas...

Texas better ban the internet too because they don't sell the encyclopedias anymore.
