Dump It: Bad Job Numbers Are REAL

'X Men: First Class' Opens

Dump It wonders why the media is saying the GOP is not strong so far. Well, to them, maybe not and consider the source. I also want to know why a Republican woman can't even think about running for president without getting ripped apart. Who is scared of a woman president, now? Oh, only a GOP one, I get it.

- No, those job numbers are not good. Somehow the media and those with an agenda will try to make them sound fine and dandy. The reason we may still be in trouble may be the dishonest reporting of matters like this.

- Yes, The Wiener thing is a news story. It's only being questioned because he is a Democrat.

- Sure, I noticed that other outlets are picking up on the angle I noted right away after Chicago announced the cancellation of the fireworks. Just search Chicago Cancels Fireworks; Is There More To This? On second thought, here it is again: IS THERE MORE TO THIS? After an abrupt closing of a popular beach on Memorial Day in Chicago, now comes word that the Independence Day firework displays are off. Oh, there will be the usual Navy Pier shows, but they last for 15-minutes, but there will be one on July 4. No, this is the huge spectacular that draws hundreds of thousands to the city. Come to think of it, that was the main reason the beach was closed. Too many people plus add in the heat and it was enough for the shutdown. And the new mayor, Rahm Emanuel, agreed with the decision. We must note that last year the show was split into three separate shows, much to the dismay of many. Now, it's off - - completely. The reason given was simple; the financial situation. The underbelly of the reason may also be the security nightmares and the deluge of people rushing the lake front and other areas. With the smaller show still on at Navy Pier, one can only wonder if thousands will still flock to the lake front tourist attraction, thus causing more trouble, because of the crowd size. And, when talking to others about the closure of the beach on a hot day, the subject of violence and gangs come up. Is there more to the issue here?

- I went to Illinois State University and so did Jane Lynch. She is hosting the Emmys. I will be writing about it. No problem, she graduated before I did.

WEEKEND BO

- "X Men: First Class"

Source: Box Office Mojo

Notes: Welcome "X Men" to an already crowded wide release of films out there. I want to see who ends up No. 2 after this weekend and their numbers. Meanwhile, "Tree of Life" and "Midnight in Paris" continue their slow expansion. I'm guessing "Hangover 3" is done being scripted. How hard can that be?

- I just saw a headline that read: Illinois to study trains that travel 220 mph. Here's a money saver: That's fast.
