Dune by Dior - My Least Favorite of the Dior Perfume Line

Lori Leidig
I have become a perfume fanatic. Therefor, here I am again to tell you all about this here Christian Dior Dune. What would you do without me?

I acquired this little bottle in a gift set from my husband when he couldn't decipher my hints that diamonds, a Mercedes 350SL ragtop, and a month long cruise would all be suitable Christmas gifts. Nej. He opted for a travel set of Dior perfumes. Men.

Amongst these cute little bottles which fit extremely well in my make-up bag were a few I really really liked, and a few that were umm not so hot. None were utterly horrible, but if I have to rank them, Dune is the bottom of the five.

Dior sez: Created by the design house of Christian Dior in 1991, Dune is classified as a refreshing, oriental, woody fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of amber, wallflower as well as water notes of the fresh cool sea air.

Errr no. That is not what I got at all from this scent. When I first open the bottle, I get the woody right away. It smells a bit masculine, if you ask me... and you apparently are. I have no clue what Amber smells like. Isn't that a rock or something? Fresh Cool Sea Air? Well, maybe, once it is on the skin and the over-kill of alcohol has fled. Yes. I said that. In the bottle it smells like those cheap perfumes you buy at the swap meets for half the price who claim to be authentic but are diluted like crazy with alcohol. You know the ones. Admit it. You've fallen for their hard-sell, haven't you? I knew it. Well, this Dune reminds me of those booths.

Now, once I put it on and wear it awhile, the scent does soften up quite a bit and becomes more feminine. However, everybody has different body chemistry so this is no guarantee that it will do the same for you. Besides, even after it does tone itself down a bit, I wouldn't buy it again. The Dolce Vita is oooh sooo much better for me as far as Dior scents go.

As to this mini bottle: The lid on this one was tiny and tight to begin with and I had a hard time getting it open without spilling it everywhere. I had to get Lars to open it the first 5 or so times. Now it's loosened up to the point that I fear the lid will come off in my suitcase, leaving me smelling of Dune for the remainder of this trip. The clear, contoured bottle is cute, to be sure, but not worth the effort. OhJ. Skip the mini of this one.

So. As compared to other Dior scents in my bag, I have to go with only 2 stars for Dune. You might like it much better than me, and I do not totally hate it, but there are just much more suitable scents for my own temperament in the Dior line.

Like you said, everybody has a diferent chemistry.
I can tell you that I get many complements from men and women alike, of the way I smell when I put Dune on.

So I guess it all depends of the person that it is wearing it.

I love it. The best ever for me.
