Dunkin' Donuts Apple 'n Spice Donut

Consumer Product Review

Thomas J McCabe

One of my favorite items at Dunkin' Donuts shops is their Apple 'n Spice donut. This delicious taste treat features a wonderful filling of cinnamon spiced apples and is not overly sweet.

This risen donut is available at Dunkin' Donuts shops everywhere and it seems like a good product to review. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines Dunkin' Donuts' Apple 'n Spice Donut.

Size
The Dunkin' Donuts Apple 'n Spice Donut is basically the same size as most other filled donuts from Dunkin' Donuts. While one of these donuts is big enough to temporarily satisfy my appetite, I could easily eat two or three of them in one sitting. The nutritional facts for the donut do not list the net weight of the item.

Price
The regular price charged for one Apple 'n Spice donut at Hartford, Connecticut area Dunkin' Donuts shops is roughly $1.05. Compared to the prices of packaged sweet treats and restaurant desserts, I think this price is reasonable.

Dunkin' Donuts products are consistently above average in flavor, texture and overall quality, which to me, justifies paying a dollar for one donut.

Texture / Consistency
At least once a month, I try to stop at a Dunkin' Donuts shop to pick up a couple of donuts. In addition to greatly enjoying the incredible flavors offered by Dunkin' Donuts' donuts, I also love the soft, freshly-baked texture that they possess.

The Dunkin' Donuts Apple 'n Spice Donut is a solid donut, with no hole in the middle. Pillowy-soft inside, this taste treat features a light sprinkling of cinnamon sugar on the exterior. In the center of this donut sits a good amount of delightful spiced apples, made with real apple pieces. The overall mouth feel offered by this donut is very pleasant.

Nutritional Facts
Dunkin' Donuts Apple 'n Spice Donut contains 270 calories, with 130 calories from fat, per one donut serving. This excellent donut also contains 6 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 14 grams total fat, 0 mg of cholesterol, 350 mg of sodium, 32 grams total carbohydrates, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 8 grams of sugars and 3 grams of protein, per one donut serving.

Taste / Flavor
This donut offers a comfort food-like flavor that reminds me of brisk late fall and early winter days. The donut is nice and light and almost melts in the mouth. Just barely sweet, the cake part of the donut represents donut making at its finest. The spiced apples are downright delicious and not too sweet, with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg shining through.

On a flavor scale of one to ten, I would assign this product an almost never-given rating of 10.

Packaging
Dunkin' Donuts' Apple 'n Spice Donut is normally wrapped in a piece of deli paper, then placed in a paper bag when ordered to go. If large quantities of donuts are purchased, they are often packaged in a cardboard box.

Overall Rating
A truly delicious treat, the Apple 'n Spice donut sold at Dunkin' Donuts shops is a satisfying snack that works well as a breakfast item, mid - day snack or late - night dessert. The spiced apples taste fantastic and the texture and taste of the dough are top notch. This donut is highly recommended.
