From the time I called to book the trip with Durango Rivertrippers, until our trip was complete, we were treated in a friendly and professional manner by everyone associated with the company.
When we first met up with our guide and the driver who would take us to the river, I let them know that I was very nervous about whitewater rafting. They quickly calmed my fears by explaining the way whitewater rafting and rapids work and let me know how safety conscious they are. They are not risk takers and they do not risk lives.
We were taken to the river where we put on our life vests and put the raft in the river. We were the only ones on our raft along with our guide, which made it a more personal experience. As we were getting ready to take off down the river our guide gave us safety instructions. The river was rather calm so much of the trip our guide did the rowing; we got to help some, but it really was not necessary.
The scenery was beautiful along the Animas River. Our guide taught us a lot about whitewater rafting and shared many of his experiences with us. It was very relaxing and enjoyable.
Before we got to the rapids, our guide told us all about the specific rapids we would be on. He let us know what would happen so we understood what was going on and were prepared for any situation. The rapids were only a level II, but they were a blast.
The person who drives the vehicle to the end of the trip takes pictures of the group going through the rapids. That CD is available for purchase. The CD is a wonderful way to preserve the memories of a fun-filled day.
After we got through the rapids, our trip was over. The trip we went on lasted two hours. It was an experience that we will never forget.
Durango Rivertrippers offers many different trips along the Animas River in Durango, Colorado. They offer a half-day trip that takes the rafters through Durango along some I-III rapids depending on the time of year. This trip includes lunch as well. Or they offer a two-hour trip like the one we went on. They also offer inflatable Kayak trips.
Their guides are professionally trained, they have type V life vests, their rafts are heavy duty, and they are extremely safety oriented.
We plan to go whitewater rafting again and plan to use Durango Rivertrippers for our trip because they provided us with a safe and wonderful experience.
